My wife and I spent one night at the Raffles in June. From check-in to check-out the service, room and amenities were excellent.

The hotel is located almost on Tiananmen Square in a renovated part of the old Beijing Hotel. If you want to be in the heart of Beijing, this is the place to stay.

Management greeted us on arrival and provided an efficient and comfortable check-in experience.

Upgraded to a suite, our room was wonderful. Comfortable bed and huge bathroom. The wi-fi connection was fast and easy to log-on. The hotel's cable system provided a few more channels than most other hotels in China.

Our breakfast the next day was excellent, with a great buffet spread offering something for everything's taste. We really liked the fact that weekend breakfast was served until 10:30am.

If there was one thing to improve upon is the fact that the hotel has completely centralized A/C. This meant that, although we could change the fan setting, we were unable to set the temperature in the room. It got a bit warm overnight.

We would absolutely stay at the Raffles again.

A lot of things are not working. The sink could not take out the water. Food was extremely overprized. Service was good from concierge "John".

Only one thing was good in the restaurant - a french apple dessert with vanila icecream.

Dear Esben G,

Many thanks for having taken the time to write a tripadvisor review.

We have been spoilt by all the positive feedback from our guests; a review of your nature is therefore even more disappointing. Allow me please to apologize for the fact that our hotel did not live up to your expectations.
While I was happy to read about John and the French dessert treat in Writers Bar, it was indeed sad to know that you had some challenges with your sink and you felt we were overprized. Having analyzed our pricing earlier this year, including competitor’s pricings, we actually believe it is very competitively priced. Please allow me to add that Hotel food and beverage in general in China are substantially more expensive than in other parts of the world due to the ingredient and safety measures taken with the quality of food and beverage served in hotels versus outside of the hotel, as well as the high taxes imposed on imported products. Having said that, we will use your feedback to once again to another competitive analysis of our servings in the second half of the year.

I truly hope that you will consider giving us the opportunity to show you what Raffles is truly about whenever your travels bring you back to Beijing and that you will be contacting me personally at generalmanager.beijing@raffles.com for your next stay with us.

Sincerely,
Christian Sack – General Manager

Raffles is the grand old hotel in Beijing, located on the Main avenue, one block away from the forbidden city. Service is fantastic, and the concierge is a huge help for English speaking guests. The casual bar area downstairs offers a wonderful casual dinner after a day of sightseeing. This is simply a Great hotel with a great location.

It is a beautiful hotel, rooms are nicer than anything I have seen. Ideally located for business travelers as it is with walking distance to the business hub.
Rooms are spacious and luxurious and very modern.
1 thing I didn't like, outlets are closed after midnight ( even lobby lounge)And the only available source of food will be the room service. Iam no sure if it's always the case or only on that night.

I strongly recommend this hotel. And I would love to stay their again!

Dear EWS14,

Thank you for your superb review of Raffles!

We really appreciate your kind words about our hotel, especially in regards to our location and comfort of rooms.

In regards to the opening time of our hotel outlets, while all outlets do close around midnight, our In-Room-Dining which offers varieties of food selection runs 24 hours and could indeed be served at the lobby lounge as well for our guest convenience. Please rest assured that we will readdress this point during our next executive meeting to reevaluate the necessity to keep the lobby lounge open until a later time.

Thank you once again for the feedback as well as your positive review and strong recommendation. We look very much forward to hosting you once again soon.

Warm regards,
Christian Sack – General Manager.

I am a regular visitor to the hotel due to the close location to my office, the staff are professional and friendly. The hotel is steeped in history and the restaurants offer a good choice of dishes to suit all tastes. Writers Bar is worth a visit for afternoon tea and East 33 for lunch or dinner.
