This Sichuan restaurant has 3 locations. 2 on "Ghost Street" (Gui Jie or Dongzhimen Nei, Inner) and one on the 3rd floor of a building on Dongzhimen Wai (Outer Street). (Third floor above a Pizza Hut). The food is all top notch and moderate to inexpensive. The sichuan noodles in spicy sesame sauce - Dan Dan Mian - is great and very cheap, But the killer good dish here is the frog. You don't eat frog? Don't be squeamish - it is really amazing - I convince visitors all the time to try it and 99% agree it is great. The word Succulent was invented for this dish. The meat falls off the bones. No, it tastes nothing like chicken. And hold onto your hat - it is spicy and numbing ("Ma-La") and you will order many more beers than you normally do.
This place is open all night and is more packed at 2 or 3 am than at normal dinner times. Give it a try. And let me know if you are going - I can always use a taste of that Frog.
Note the name of this entry is misleading: It is Jin Gui Gui Jie. All that Small Mountain Town Yummy? Not in the name.
