Our family booked a 3 day Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor with Egypt Unlimited Tours. We were a family of 4 with our two daughters, ages 12 and 15. Mohammed Badawy was assigned to our family as our tour guide for the duration of the cruise. We feel very blessed to have had Mohammed as our guide. Aside from the tours included with the cruise, we added two additional excursions to Nubian Village and Abu Simbel, also guided by Mohammed. One thing I would like to note is that we traveled to Egypt during a pandemic. This was a little unnerving but Mohammed ensured hygiene precautions were being taken and made us feel comfortable.
Mohammed went above and beyond our expectations in all aspects. He tended to our needs and was also aware of the children as sometimes day after day of tours can be a lot for kids. It is evident that Mohammed is a highly educated man. His background in archaeology clearly lends to his work as an Egyptologist. He is very passionate about the history and culture of ancient Egypt and this made his teachings so enjoyable. He made sure that our tours were tailored to our needs and interests. He told us to let him know if we want more or less information and that he was there to give us the experience we desired. He kept our family engaged, even the kids. As a family, we are currently documenting each experience we had with Mohammed as we acquired so much new information. I could go into detail about each and every tour we did over our 4 days with Mohammed, however, they would all be the same, exceptional! He always kept us apprised of what we were doing and what was coming next. He arranged for wake-up calls for our rooms on the boat. We appreciate that he got us up and moving early each morning as we were able to avoid the larger groups of people by arriving at sites early or later. Then, there are the little things, that mean so much. I had inquired about purchasing some Saffran from one of the markets. He texted me that evening and said he would purchase some for me at the local market in Aswan. He did this when he was walking home after spending an entire day with us and gave it to me as a gift, really special, thank you again. I also needed to stop at a pharmacy to pick up some things for one of our daughters. He arranged for that on our way back to the boat one evening. I had also mentioned to him that really wanted to try an Egyptian dish called Koshari. He arranged for our van to stop at a Koshari store in Luxor and helped us to purchase some for our 4-hour drive to Hurghada. He provided us with ample water each day in the van for when we were driving from one site to another. All in all, Mohammed was at our service. He took fantastic care of us and we walked away from an amazing experience with a plethora of new knowledge about Egypt. If you are reading this in hopes of finding a tour guide, look no further and book Mohammed. Trust me, you will not regret it.

Mohammed was our guide starting in Luxor with the temples of Karnack and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Valley of the Nobles and much more. He traveled with us down the Nile, guiding us through the temples nestled along the river. And then he took us to Abu Simbel, one of the crown jewels of ancient Egypt. Mohammed was an awesome tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly, but best of all, he adapted our schedule to add sites we had a special interest in, like taking us to a stone sculpture shop on the west bank of the Nile and helping us negotiate for a treasure to bring home. If you travel to Egypt, ask for Mohammed Badawy as your guide!

I cannot say enough positive things about Mohammed Badawy. He was our tour guide during recent very trying times (Covid 19/Corona virus pandemic) but managed to give us an excellent tour in spite of the challenges.

It was March 17th and we had just begun our first tour (to Unfinished obelisk, Aswan dam and Temple of Philae) from our Nile cruise while still docked in Aswan. During the tour Mohammed received word from the tour agency (that had arranged for him to be our guide) that the Egyptian government had just announced that all foreigners must leave the country by 2 p.m. on March 19th. So as not to spoil the experience for us he finished the tour and then informed us of the news.

He then made an unscheduled stop at the Orange office so we could address a problem we were having with our phone. That was priceless as it allowed us to make necessary phone calls that evening to attempt (unsuccessfully) to reschedule flights back to Cairo and back to the USA. Before he left us at the cruise ship he gave us his contact info and told us to call him if we needed his help.

Since we were unable to get flights on our own we contacted both the tour agency and Mohammed. They worked together to come up with a plan that would get us back home and also allow us to continue on our cruise to see Kom Ombo and Edfu. Mohammed consulted with us about the options and we were able to choose a modified itinerary that included those sites that we most wanted to see, including much of Luxor.

Mohammed sailed with us to Edfu and the agency arranged a car and driver to meet us after the tour of Edfu and drive all of us to Luxor. Mohammed made suggestions on our start time but was flexible in allowing us to make the final decision to start our tour of Edfu at 6:30 a.m.

Mohammed knew we were very anxious about our situation but he was great at distracting us from our worries. He is well educated on Egyptology and I am convinced that his work experience as an archeologist added invaluable insight. His English is very good and he told us right from the beginning that he would adjust the tour to our individual needs and provide us with as much or as little information as we desired. He was very good at time management but always asked if we wanted a little time to explore a sight on our own after he had given his information. He made sure we understood that his goal is to make us happy and he delivered. He delivers all the facts in an interesting way interspersing stories that really help you understand the ancient Egyptians. He genuinely cares about his clients. After we parted ways he contacted us several times along our journey home to make sure we were okay.

Since we were cramming two days of tours into one long day Mohammed was not able to show us every detail at every site but he did an excellent job of making sure we saw the most important highlights. We were also fortunate that none of the sites were crowded and it was not too hot. He helped us quickly purchase the premium Luxor pass without any hassles at the Valley of the Kings so we could see KV 9, 17 and 62, tombs which were high on our list of must-sees. In fact we got to see five tombs instead of the three that were part of the cruise itinerary. We also got to see Nefertari's tomb in the Valley of the Queens which also was not on the original cruise itinerary. We visited Hatshepsut's Temple and made a brief stop at the Colossi of Memnon.

Mohammed then took us to an Egyptian restaurant in Luxor for some much needed nourishment. Afterwards he asked us if we had enough energy to visit Karnak and Luxor temples on the East Bank. We decided to push forward even though the tour agency had managed to secure us a flight to Cairo at midnight and then flights home beginning at 4:30 a.m. the next morning. We saw those temples and were back at the cruise ship by 6:30 p.m. - time enough to rest a bit, have dinner and pack before our 10 p.m. departure for the Luxor airport.

Mohammed managed to not only salvage, but also provide a very enjoyable tour, for what could easily have turned into a miserable situation. If he was able to do that for us under extremely unusual circumstances I think you will be very pleased with the service that Mohammed Badawy provides once the country is open to visitors again. I also concur with all the accolades about Mohammed from previous reviewers.
