Do not get me wrong, the moment you arrive in Cairo make sure to see the Pyramids of Giza, as they are the most majestic structures on earth. But do not go alone, go accompanied with a credited guide, else you might have a terrible experience.
The place is packed with corruption, scammers, hustlers, and con-artists who even fool the local Egyptians. From fake security guards, camel-men, people that want to show you something or take a picture and rip you off afterwards.
Already before the entrance, after a first security check, cars with local tourists are stopped by men with camels. They tell them it is not possible to drive further, you can only enter with their camel service. Of course afterwards they scam you.
Even after entering the official gate and security check, scammers are everywhere. Police doesn't seem to be bothered with it at all.
There is no information anywhere on site about the pyramids, no toilets, just nothing. If you walk a bit further away you will find trash lying in the desert everywhere. It is a disgrace for one of the most monumental places in the world. Government should step in to improve the situation.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our visit. because we were accompanied with a credited guide.
