The statue of Ramses was discovered here, hence they decided to build an open outdoor museum at the site of discovery..other than the historical aspect there isn't really any significance of the statue lying horizontal at this particular site. You will find mini-Sphinx and other statues at other places too.
We visited this museum since it was a part of our guided day tour (Emo tours).

As far as museums go, this one was very average. Going with a guide will help you understand a number of facts about the significance of Ramses & Memphis. Visit it if you're super into ancient Egyptian history or if you are visiting Dahshur & Saqqara, but otherwise don't make a special trip out.

We visited this museum as part of our tour and I enjoyed it very much. You should allow 30-40 min and go with a guide to understand the history and significance of this place.

It is quite small area and not that many artifacts. At least it felt that way, specially after visiting the Cairo Egyptian Museum. But it was still very interesting and I would say cozy :) Loved the statue of Ramses inside the museum. It really is great and in a way very comforting. His smile is the same like the one I have seen on Buddha statues.
You can really take Your time there and enjoy! Not many sales people around bothering You. I would recommend adding this museum to a tour of sites, perhaps not worth driving there just for that museum. Just my humble opinion.

A really interesting museum with so much on offer. There are literally thousands of items on display and they contain so much history. It is all very exciting and definitely worth a visit.
