This hotel has spacious rooms, well maintained , good air conditioner, bright light and has all facilities one can think.

The breakfast is just average. If u are ok bread butter jam and omelettes then shouldn’t be of any worry. Vegetarian will have problems.

This hotel doesn’t serve food in the room and Restuarant closes by 8 pm

You have number of places close by ..

I will stay here again

The staff at the front desk are commendable as they took the extra mile of effort to give information for a traveling duo with convenient hails of cab for the traveler upon booking. Rooms were clean and the amenities were adequate.
The bell boys are very helpful in getting your stuffs to the correct cab and declines any tips too, very humble people.
The lobby is comfy n cozy with lots of information for a traveler who is on the wait. The hotel also accommodates early check-in upon availability of rooms and is very considerate for long distance travelers.
Good job Grand Laurel.

Room tip: Rooms are generally quieter on top floors

Many of the reviews both here and on other sites are quite high. I saw an overall rating of 8.3 and read several reviews before I booked the Grand Laurel Hotel in Yangon. It is neat and clean. Several of the "amenities" listed are not quite true. There is no "airport shuttle" as stated. They do call and get you a taxi very fast however. The Staff is very helpful and one of the Ladies speaks English very well and another young Lady is very fluent in English. The location is pretty good and you can walk to several local sites and small restaurants in the area. I liked the fact that the room was very clean and the bathroom has a bathtub. I give the Grand Laurel Hotel a solid 7.0 rating. Would I go back? Probably so due to both the spotless condition of the Hotel and room and the helpfulness of all of the Staff. They are doing their best to provide a nice stay.

This hotel is in a good location, walking distance to Sule Pagoda, the market and central Yangon. We made sure to pay for a street view room to ensure we have a nice, bright room, as some of the reviews indicated cheaper rooms had no windows. Ours was excellent! It had a wraparound window on one wall which gave a nice view of some greenery and the street below. The room was a good size and pleasantly decorated. This is not luxury accommodation, but for good, basic accommodation it is excellent. Clean and pleasant.

The bed is a little hard, but that is common all over SE Asia. The shower had good water pressure and ample hot water. There is a safe, a small cabinet to hang clothes, a desk and a couple of chairs. My only complaints about the room would be the harder bed and the bathroom mirror which was tiny and closer to my waist than my face, making it harder for a tall guy like me to shave, but not a big deal. Oh, and this is not the fault of the hotel but there were dogs howling a number of times through the night. I'm sure it was just bad luck on our one night there, but it did wake up my travel partner. I just flew for 26 hours to get there so could, and did, sleep through anything. Could probably happen anywhere in Yangon.

The staff are excellent. Super friendly, super nice. Can not fault them for anything. We had breakfast on the top floor. It had a reasonable spread of the usual suspects. Again, this is not 5 star, but a reasonable selection and plenty for a decent meal to start your day. From the reviews, I thought the rooftop restaurant would be open air, but it was not. Still a reasonably good view through the windows.

All in all a good stay in a clean, decent 3 star place with excellent service.

Room tip: Make sure you pick a room with a view to avoid a windowless room!

The rooms are clean and the hotel is well kept. Wi-Fi is poor throughout the hotel. Breakfast for Western taste is not good. Staff is pleasant and helpful but management has a petty attitude. I was charged for a full breakfast even though I only had a cup of coffee. I would have had breakfast if they could make eggs. Left a bad taste in my mouth since I stayed there twice and consider myself a good guest.

Dear Mr. David K,
Thank you for your feedback on your stay. We are constantly trying to improve our guests' experience, and we will keep improving on the breakfast options. Breakfast is charged separately if it does not include in the room rate. Eggs can be cooked to order according to the guest's preference, and it says so on the breakfast table which you may have missed. Myanmar traditional and asian breakfast variety are also provided. Again, thank you for your feedback to help us improve for the better.
