I stay two or three times a year for several weeks each. My business is close by and the hotel serves as my home in Yangon. In the US it would be classified as a Business Hotel, (all of the essentials without the luxury that can quickly triple or quadruple the cost in Yangon) equally suitable for tourists. It has the essentials of a good desk and speedy wi-fi and a hardy breakfast drawn from Myanmar, Chinese and with comfortable bed, adequate bathroom, good desk, and fas wi-fi.
The rooms are of modest size and quite comfortable. Staff always give the Myanmar "warm welcome", and are always ready to help with special requests. If one has difficulty with English, another is close by to help.
Very important in Yangon, several taxis are associated with the hotel and it is easy to arrange long journeys and to keep the taxi for a half day or full day at reasonable rates.
The vibrant downtown location is convenient with a wide array of restaurants and shops, including the Bogyoke Aung San Market, within walking distance. One is in the thick of real people in real Yangon.
Do not expect The Ritz and enjoy a very satisfactory stay are very reasonable rates.
