So, stayed here for a few nights for work meetings. Summit seems to have been around for a long time. It used to be popular with humanitarian staff visiting Myanmar. It remains so, though now with a more diverse clientele. It's a large hotel close to the Shwedagon pagoda, built in the modernist style popular a couple of decades ago.
Staff are very friendly, and the large lobby a pleasant place to chill - especially when there is live traditional music played in the background. The business centre, close to the lobby, is very helpful - e.g. getting local sim cards, printing and the like. Getting around probably requires a taxi (it's a little out of Yangon's centre). The pagoda being so close by is a bonus (around 15 minutes walk - but take care crossing the main roads!). The park opposite is also nice to wander around, and includes some interesting examples of old military hardware (including a plane).
Rooms are fine - large and clean, though perhaps showing some wear and tear (I first stayed 10 years ago when it felt fresher). Rooms could do with some modernising, but they are comfortable. One weird thing - the windows are covered with condensation on the outside after dark. Not sure if this is just at this hotel, but something to note, as it does limit any views you may want at certain times of the day. Internet is free...So, stayed here for a few nights for work meetings. Summit seems to have been around for a long time. It used to be popular with humanitarian staff visiting Myanmar. Internet is free and fast (though I'd advise using a VPN for added security). Breakfast - and other meals - are fine, with lots of choice.
Price is reasonable (when I stayed it was around €55 per night). I enjoyed my stay here, and I'll certainly come again.More
