Thank you to Leanne, Peter and Skipper/ Crew of Stormbird, Samuel, JC and Thomas.
An incredible 8hr Charter starting out with a Mahi Mahi. Then a 160kg Blue Marlin that I fought with for over an hour ! Got it to the boat three times before it broke off ! Sensational experience, glad I had the Go Pro on. Followed by a double hook up of Wahoo and a Dog Tooth Tuna later on. Great day out I will come back.

Great operation, great fun!

Myself and two friends booked a 6 hour charter with Wild Blue. When we arrived at agreed time the Captain and crew were all in the boat and ready to go, we literaly just had to get on board!

Its a great operation with nice fishing gear which was well maintained and a great boat which also was clean, tidy and very wel presented.

The first thing to do was listen to the fishing brief which started with all of the safety brief followed by a well presented instruction on use of the gear.

We set out far to begin with, brilliant sunny day but a Big swell. The forecast which was shown to us by the Captain was for 1.4 to 1.5 metre swell but we were told that it was closer to 3.5m!

One of the things that impressed me straight away was the ability of the Captain to provide a comfortable and dry ride in challenging conditions, nobody even had mild seasickness. All this while the two crew members were jumping about the boat getting all the necessary jobs done.

On the trip out the crew were very engaging and chatted casually about al things of interest. They provided a great insight and knowledge of the Islands and we were impressed with how they interacted with us as if we had all met before.

Once out in the area, the crew and captain were constantly communicating with each other and there was plenty of work being done, outriggers rigged, multiple lines with lures if it didn't work they changed tactics, they did everything possible to get us on the fish.

We pulled in some small tuna and hooked on to a Bronze Whaler which broke the line close to the boat, was great fun trying to bring it in!

We had morning tea, lunch, tea and coffee, soft drinks and the best chocolate cake!

After the Sharks arrived n numbers it was decided to try closer in for some Wahoo. We motored in and once again the crew were busy setting up and getting ready, had some more tuna and then a quiet spot.

Then it was on, the outrigger pinged and the reel screamed, the boys were excited and we were on!. After a few runs we pulled in a 12kg Wahoo! My biggest catch before this was 5kg so I was pumped! We kept trying but ran out of time.

On the return we found that 3 other boats that were out had all caught nothing. The crew on they way in raised the Pirate flag and the Wahoo flag so everyone knew we had a catch!

Back at dock the fish was weighed and the pics taken with the brag board. The captain then filleted the fish and we took a nice clean fillet home. We cooked up 20 cutlets which we had between four of us and there was plenty left so we gave it to the lodge staff to share between them.

Something to note as a recreational fisherman and boat owner myself. If you are intending to go fishing on ANY charter ANYWHERE you must be aware of a few things.

1. You don't always catch fish, sometimes they are just not where you want them to be. Its common sense really but it needs to be said.

2. You are going out to the Ocean, it might get rough (and this was made clear to us by Pete) take your seasickness pills before you get on if you have an issue. Prepare for the worst so you enjoy it !

3. The people who forecast the weather and seas in every country are the same........... and sometimes they don't get it right!

This is a great operation and I will return again next year, I have been on many charters here in Australia and none of them would get my business again but I would return to Wild Blue tomorrow if my wife would let me!

Thank you to the Captain and Crew for a wonderful, friendly and entertaining day.

If you are in Vanuatu and want a good day out fishing then give Pete and Leanne a call.

Can’t say enough about Pete and Leanne, short notice half day game fishing charter organised no problem. Catching a Marlin has been on my bucket list for years. Been there done that and will always remember. Sammy was an excellent skipper and his crew did a spot in job of advising where needed to bring about the catch and release of a 125kg blue marlin. Recommend Wild Blue Fishing charters to anyone. To the detractors I will say that fishing is fishing , some days are successful and some days are not. Thanks for your company Bob and Greg from Brissy.

We booked a boat for reef fishing which was confirmed by Leanne. She later called to say would we mind changing it to the following day as some passengers from a cruise ship had called to book. We said this was not possible as we had arranged various events at specific times. At 8pm the same evening Leanne texted to say they would have to cancel our fishing tomorrow as there was a mix up and they couldn't take the booking. Outrageous and incredible, we were gazumped. We would NOT recommend this company. Beware.

I’m sorry for your disappointment. We have a contract with all P&O cruise boats to conduct fishing charters which we have been doing for 15 years. Before the cruise boat comes to our port they contact Adventures in Paradise which is the inbound agent here in Port Vila to give them figures for tours that are pre sold. Adventure in Paradise then contact the tour operators with numbers for tours.

On this particular occasion Adventures had contacted us the day before and said we only had one tour which gave us ½ a day open for other bookings. Pam prior to Leanne taking your booking she contact A.I.P to confirm that the afternoon tour had not been sold and she said told by A.I.P that we didn’t have a fishing tour in the afternoon, this is why Leanne took your booking.

Within ½ hour of taking your booking A.I.P contacted us with update tour numbers and informed us that there was an afternoon tour. Leanne explained to A.I.P that we had taken a private booking and we weren’t able to do the cruise boat tour. A.I.P relayed this back to the ship and they were informed if we didn’t take the trip P&O would pull our contract.

I am sorry for your disappointment Pamela however we were between a rock and a hard place. We have 2 boats available normally and we would have just moved bookings around however our second boat is currently having a refit. We also offer to try and get you onto another operator.

Once again sorry for all this.

We had a great half day charter with Skipper Sammy and crew Tom and Richard.Sammy was incredibly knowledgeable about all things fishing and the islands. Tom and Richard were very engaging and efficient in helping us catch a few fish. We had a great 4 hours out and learned heaps. There were 2 issues though. On the website it specifically says keep catch and hotel pick up and drop off.
Once on the boat there is a sign that says boat keeps catch unless negotiated otherwise with the office. Also on our return from a great morning we were told by a chap we hadn't met before that Pete and Leanne had gone out and we would need to catch a bus back to our hotel. Extremely bad form and disappointing.
Pete and Leanne don't mislead your potential customers with false advertising.!

Most certainly no misleading intended.

We most certainly do not have a problem with our guest taking fillets back to there hotel as this happens on a regular basics, as long as they are pelagic and not reef fish as our reef fish here have Ciguatera Poisoning which will make you very sick and put you in to hospital.

On the odd occasion we are not around when the fishing boat returns and our staff are asked to give our guest bus money so that they can get back to there hotel at no expense to them.

We apologies if this did not happen.
