Clean and centrally located

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 28, 2016
Spent 2.5 nights here (Manila flight was late, so checked in at 5 am...). Received a complimentary upgrade, which was very nice and earns the property an extra star. Bed was comfortable (firm) and the shower was very nice. The hotel itself is very basic--a place to sleep, mostly. But there are good restaurants nearby, so eating is not a problem.

The staff was very accommodating and got me an iron when I needed one and helped me rent a car. The knowledge of local details was sketchy, though, so when I wanted to find a locally made shirt or rent a bike, they could not help. (Moreys for the shirt & still looking for a bike...)

Room Tip: Rooms away from Main St. are quieter.

Located centrally in downtown, the hotel room rate was $110 per night single occupancy. Checkout time is noon and they were adamant of adhering to their check in time of 3 PM (though I got to check in at 2 PM after sitting next to the front desk for hours).

The cleanliness of the entire facility was very good and near excellent except for hard to get places that manifested a build up of dust and scum. No internet, no in room safe but couple of bottle water provided along with a kettle and cups. There is an in house Japanese restaurant called Mog Mog that I will not recommend as the food served is not acceptable ... not fresh and tasty. In my opinion the room is more in the price range of $50-60 per night but in Palau the hotels are very expensive.

The hotel personnel are very nice and helpful. They all appear to be contract workers from other countries.

We stayed for 5 days in March and when I made the reservation 11 months in advance had requested a quiet room away from the street. Nevertheless, when we checked in we were told that they were full and the only room available faced the street. We were given ear plugs, never a good sign. The traffic never quieted. In addition, the beds were very hard. So between the hard beds and the noise, we did not sleep well at all. On the plus side the staff was very nice and the rooms were spotless. We tried the purchase wifi but it did not work with apple products! I would not stay again.

This hotel is centrally located in Koror, a short walk from most of the good restaurants in the city, and a block from a large shopping center that hosts a grocery store on the ground level. It was a good value for me, and the service was exceptional. Internet//Wi-Fi is not included in room price, and is so slow anyway that it really wouldn't matter if it were. To be fair, Internet speeds are abysmal throughout Palau.

I cannot overemphasize how slow the Internet data connection is in Palau: like 1996 AOL dial-up slow. Unless you absolutely have to be connected to the outside world during your visit I recommend just turning off your phone. Don't even think of trying to download/upload a video file. It's a practice in futility.

This hotel caters predominantly to Japanese tourists, as exemplified by the in-house Japanese restaurant and by the very personable, multilingual staff members who epitomize quality service. The downside to this particular audience is the Japanese-style bedrooms, which to me felt like sterile hospital wards with their glossy white tile floors and plank-hard mattresses on low-slung beds.

That said, I was so exhausted from diving and exploring every day I fell right asleep when I returned to the room. In this regard Palau Paradise served my needs perfectly. However, if I were looking for a resort experience, and just wanted to hang out at the hotel all day, this would not be the place.

Room tip: Don't rely on anything that requires Internet connection here. It's almost non-existent.

Cozy room, cheap price, and supreme service! I was desperately looking for a room when I learned that all hotels were booked full when we were about to visit Palau for the first time, and this hotel was the only one that replied to my email saying that they would contact me when a room becomes available. Once we arrived at the hotel, nice and polite people greeted us with great hospitality. The room was very clean, big and had a full set of amenities. These alone make this hotel worth staying, but what is the most outstanding about this hotel is their philosophy of customer satisfaction.

They give precise directions to their cleaning staffs so that their guests can stay in a perfect comfort, and should there be the slightest defects (like when you don't get hot water for a while which is kind of typical in countries like Palau) they fix them immediately and apologize from the heart even if it's not their fault. In addition, when we visited them for the second time, we were led to a room decorated with towels folded like swans, and a nice chocolate gift on the table with a welcome back letter! They offered us even more, but you'll discover that when you visit them twice... ;)

I have stayed at a lot of 4-5 star hotels around the world, but so far none of them had such a thorough service and hospitality. We wouldn't think of staying at any other hotels than Paradise Hotel when we go to Palau. We can't wait to make our next visit to them in two weeks!

Arriving at 2 a.m. on a flight from Japan, this hotel can organise an airport pick up + transfer for you (for $20 a person - young kids free.) 20 mins later you're in the 'center' of town. Very basic, but functional hotel. What you need to know (which we didn't) is to ask for a room at the BACK of the hotel as the front faces onto the main street. Aircon + cable TV in the room.

The hotel does not offer breakfast but there are a variety of options within a 5~10 minute walk. The shopping center in town - for what it's worth - is just opposite too.

Comfy enough. Staying 2 nights offers the chance of walking around downtown for a day before heading out to wherever and whatever you've really come to Palau to see or do.

Room tip: Make sure you ask for a room at the BACK of the hotel - NOT facing the main street.
