This is not a Hilto standard. The location is excellent, the apartments quite spacious but takes ages on their shuttle and check-in. Service standards are nowhere near even a three star. Wifi is NOT free as advertised, and when you get it it is sub-standard ege cannot perform business level access such as VPN and is unreliable, disconnects etc. Makes things take 5x what it would take in say, Indonesia. Don't expect anyone to carry your bags to the room after a long flight and expect to stand in a long que for check-in. Staff are friendly and helpful, but the level of service is simply not to any international tourist standard especially for 500 bucks a night. How expensive is this hotel? Very expensive, but not luxury.

The reception staff were very helpful and willing to speak English for the more difficult communications. My 7th floor King Ocean studio was beautifully styled and offered expansive views of the bay. My only disappointment was my balcony was always in the shade. A perfect location for a solo traveller as I felt very safe strolling to the many nearby restaurants in the evening.

Very good place to stay with friendly staff. Convenient location just across from Duck Island and a short walk to Baie des Citrons. A long but adventurous walk to the city centre - we did this along Rue de Anse Vata.

OK, so the hotel has a great location, with great views, especially as you go higher, so check what type of room you are booking.

We had a deluxe one bedroom with ocean views - the view is stunning.

The rooms themselves are a little dated, and definitely due for a refresh.

New Caledonia is expensive - everything is expensive, just a heads up.

Food wise - the local beachfront restaurants are extremely touristy - think pizza and pasta.

If you want to self cater - L'Atelier Gourmand is just around the corner from the hotel - a great place to pick up pastries/baguettes etc.

A little further afield - about a 20 minute walk is the closest supermarket - it's called Simply Market. The walk to the supermarket is a little uphill, so we tended to walk there on dusk when it was a little cooler.

Taxis are hard to get - they don't tend to sit on taxi ranks like other parts of the world. There are some ranks around, but rarely have taxis on them. You can call to have a taxi come to you - but note you'll need to be able to speak a little French to order one - all of the taxi dispatchers we spoke to didn't speak English.

Rachel and her team are fantastic, and really looked after us.

The big negative for us had little to do with the actual hotel - our booking was cancelled by Hilton the day prior to us arriving, without any notification to us.

Exactly why Hilton did this remains a mystery - I have contacted them several times for an explanation (it's file #23728902 if Hilton are reading..).

They initially tried to blame me for cancelling it, then blamed the hotel, but no one seems to know.

Either Hilton has a serious system bug, or someone has gone rouge on them.

What's really concerning is that Hilton appear to have absolutely no idea what happened in their own system.

I've provided Hilton over 2 months to provide an explanation with multiple followups, but to date, they have been unable to respond with what happened.

This really made the initial part of the holiday extremely stressful.

The hotel is well appointed and has uninterrupted views of the beach, ocean and islands. All restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance. Noumea town centre is a bus or cab (if you can find one) ride and is plain. The shops in this area are open on Sundays however cabs are non-existent and if you arrive at the international
Airport it is expensive to reach the hotel. Overall not a cheap destination and if you want to travel you will need a hire car or a booking with a travel company.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views.e
