Description: Abouelafia Bakery is a very famous bakery. The Bakery Shop has become a household name and a symbol in our country under the direction of Walid Abouelafia. The original and oldest branch of this bakery is Legendary Old Jaffa, near the clock tower. The Bakery sells a variety of baked goods, including Pita Bread , Bagels, Sambusak, Egg Bagels, Pizzas and sweets such as Bklwah and Cnaphe. Surrounding the Bakery, Abouelafia also offers a very successful Meat, Fish, and Oriental food (such as schwarma) restaurant located across from the Bakery in the Clock Square - all under the same authentic and beloved brand name. The restaurant also offers various sweets such as Baklawaot, Cnaphe, Shabakiye and hot and cold beverages.

Abouelafia is open 24 hours a day, which is excellent if, like us, you are a visitor who needs to catch an early tour bus! It's on a picturesque street in Jaffa.

They have a variety of delicious pastries available, and they'll throw them in the wood-burning oven to warm up if you so choose. They also have lots of prepared sweets -- baklava and other yummy confections.

We particularly loved the almond croissants and the small cheese "pizzas."

It's not the cheapest place in the world, but for us, it was totally worth it because we knew we could get an early bite without worrying!

Note for visitors: they accept credit cards!

Went twice over our week long trip to Israel last week after a recommendation. Once for sweets.... didn't like it is an understatement and should've learned our lesson but we really wanted burekas on a holiday in which all the Kosher places were closed.... 80 shekels for 5 burekas (4 potato and 1 chocolate) and a bag of mini pitas. If that sounds ridiculously expensive to you---- it is!! Burekas are not that expensive in Israel. But this place is, probably because it's a tourist trap. The potato filling lacked flavor and was almost non existent in the dough... same with the chocolate. There was maybe a penny-sized amount of chocolate spread. As they say, fool me once..... ugh. We should have known better than to go back the second time!! :(

Abouelafia is a Jaffa institution - they're assured of a steady flow of tourists and I assume this is why prices are much too high.

5 small bakery items - 60 NIS. Elsewhere you'd be paying half that - this is pricey even for old Jaffa. Oh - and no prices displayed at all (which means they're breaking the law - prices must be clearly displayed...)

What we had ranged from mediocre to good - but at that price, I won't go back.

It is absolutely awful place. We got ripped off. Croissant 10nis- which is 2xtimes more than in Paris! Ridiculous prices, old man was absolutely unfriendly. Do not go there! Just a few meters more are local places with nice pastry and normal prices! No prices visible and customer is taken by surprise!

the food was good but both me and my girlfriend are pretty certain the fixed menu price was 50 shekels (because we asked) but the final price was almost double. we even asked for an explanation but the waiter said the menu was 90, not 50. we both speak very good english so i'm pretty sure they said it was less to make us stay ...
