We are a couple Jewish Americans who don't speak Hebrew. While we loved our visit to Israel, we found it difficult to order food from some of the more traditional establishments. Here you will have no such trouble because the menu is in English AND has all pictures! That, and this will be some of the best Shakshuka you'll eat in the city. Definitely worth a visit, and you might even see some monks walk by!

Myself and my friends decided to give tala a try as it had good trip advisor reviews and was near to where we were and we definitely weren't disappointed. Great felafel and hummus, good service and a reasonable price. Everything you'd need in a restaurant when in the old town.

Our walking tour ended here and recommended it saying it has some of the best hummus in Israel. That seemed a bit optimistic, it was good but tastes are relative. The falafel was nice no crispy and the bread was fresh. Our service was fine as I know others have commented differently. This location is off the beaten track so unless you happen to take a wrong turn you most likely won’t come across it. That said it’s quiet and out of the crowds of the old city.

Tried this place for lunch and were disappointed! The service was very poor and you had to keep trying to get anyone to serve you....like they were not interested. The meals we had were both poorly executed with no seasoning at all which is amazing in any restaurant. Both meals were blah! Maybe they were having a bad day as the restaurant was empty when we arrived for lunch....so no excuses really! I recommend you do not take a chance and be disappointed as there are many good choices just outside the old city on Yafo Street
