Jerusalem Gold may be labeled as a 4-star hotel but the facility/service make it at best a low-quality 3-star hotel. Everyone we met felt this way or felt it was at an even lower level, like a 2-star. It's saving grace is it decently located right next to the central bus terminal and walking distance to Yehuda market though note its proximity to the street means that the noise from the street can be loud, especially if you are there during any sort of holiday (get a room on a higher floor). Multiple people had issues like where the hotel would not give them towels (refused to bring up towels to your room even though it was the hotel’s fault for forgetting to give you any towels). Rooms were old and cramped. The people at the front desk were not responsive, ill-mannered, not customer-service oriented and genuinely did not seem to want to work there or help anyone. The apathy was so bad that the last night we were there, we went to the front desk and requested breakfast boxes for the next morning. Instead at that exact moment, he handed us some old breakfast boxes that had been sitting out all day (included perishable items like yogurt and eggs). We told him, “No, we want new boxes for tomorrow morning, not right now tonight.” But he refused to give us new boxes prepared tomorrow morning, insisting we take the random old boxes he had lying around the front desk. He forced us to take the boxes that night but we realized the perishable food was spoiled. Had we eaten spoiled yogurt and eggs that had been sitting out all day and smelled badly, we surely would have been poisoned. Thus, we immediately threw away the boxes that night and thus did not have any sort of breakfast the next morning, even though “breakfast daily” is included

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise from the street

It's an expensive and stupid hotel.
Small rooms, unhealthy, poor, laughing, very poor food, poor service. I do not have much to say about this hotel. I certainly do not come here and I do not recommend anyone.

My family went on a tour in Israel last week, and our tour group stayed for 3 nights at Jerusalem Gold Hotel. I think we got a good value for what we paid for.

Our stay included daily buffet breakfast and dinners. Israel is an expensive place to visit. The inclusion of meals with our stay saved us a lot of money. The food served were varied, healthy, and delicious. Our tour guide informed us, that they were kosher.

The room we had was just the right size for 3 adults. It's setup like a junior suite with 2 single beds pushed together in a small room, and a lounging area with sofa bed that was already made up when we arrived. There was also a plate of fruits and 2 bottles of water waiting for us. We appreciated that there was a refrigerator to cool our drinks.

There were 3 of us in the room, so we expected 3 towels, and bathroom amenities that were good for 3. There were only 2 bath towels, and shower gel and shampoo enough for 2 persons. I personally went to the front desk on the night of our arrival to request for 1 more bath towel. The personnel at reception noted it down. Come morning, we did not get the extra towel. Before breakfast, I again requested an extra towel at the front desk. The receptionist noted it down. When we got back from our day tour, our room was tidy and neat, but still no extra towel. For the third time, I requested for 1 towel and bathroom amenities at the front desk. The request was noted down again. Thankfully, this time, we got the extra towel and bathroom amenities we asked for. I guess prompt reply to guest requests depends on who is at the front desk. Aside from this, our stay was a good one.

We liked that Jerusalem Gold Hotel is near a shopping area. There are plenty of places to buy food, and shop for one's personal needs.

Should we go back to Israel, I'd consider staying there again.

Dirty old room, unfriendly staff, no plugs in bathroom. Loose floor boards, threadbare towels and narrow single beds. One star not five star. Avoid at all costs.
We were booked as part of tour. Reception staff never followed up on requests. No room service and no coffee or tea in rooms. In sufficient hanging space and kettle did not work - had to be replaced.
Fellow traveller had $600 stolen because safe in his room did not work.

The hotel is a bit old, but rooms are clean, Food selection for breakfast and dinner is good. The location is convenient, as the hotel is located next to central bus station in which you have a small mall.
