The best moment of the day to visit the square, is in the evening.
There is a nice atmosphere and the square is car free.

We had a great time here and went both in the daytime and at night to see it all illuminated. Fireworks at midnight for Tet/ New Year celebrations went on for at least 15 minutes with a great display. AND it was all free of charge!

The floral exhibits for the Year of the Dog were just exquisite and well worth the trip. We took so many photos it was hard to choose which ones to upload!

The surrounding roads were jammed with scooters and cars. We walked out of the immediate area and got a drink in a coffee bar before calling an Uber taxi to take us back to our hotel. Scooters were on the pavements and jammed us in in one place! Walking Street itself was absolutely jam packed with people that night and although busy in the day, it was not quite as packed!

The square with Ho Chi Minh's statue and Lotus ponds is beautiful too. Definitely recommend a visit for Tet/New Year.

This is just by The Rex Hotel. Nice open area offers good photo opportunities. Also good for nice stroll in the evenings when weather is a bit cooler.

Because he is so revered and the mausoleum is only open in the mornings, the lines are long to glimpse Ho Chi Minh's body. The school kids are lining up an hour before it opens, so you need to get there early. There is no shade, so bring an umbrella for sun protection.
