1. Highly commendable team of staff - courteous, helpful, friendly, attentive, prompt. On our last day, we had to leave the hotel at 6am for our super early morning flight. The staff had their kitchen pack a healthy breakfast to takeaway so we could have it in the comfortable 7 seater they prepared for our trip to the airport.

2. Rooms were clean, comfortable and thoughtfully done. I had 2 young children with me and usually hotel sinks are too high for them to brush their teeth but Calypso had this little wooden stool in the bathroom which solves my problem. They had a detachable shower head as well which is also a relief to me as it allows me to shower my kids without having myself get wet.

3. Scrumptious breakfast - we actually looked forward to the breakfast every morning. They have both buffet spread and a menu you can order from which is served pretty quickly. The kids loves the banana pancake the most.

4. Clear communication - both before and during our stay. Vivian made sure we are briefed with essential info during our trip in Hanoi city as soon as we arrived. We were given a map and info on all the places of interests and the staff also helped to book tickets for the water puppet show.

5. Location - the hotel is tucked at a quiet alley which was fantastic cos we could hardly hear all the crazy honking from the traffic. Although upon arrival we have our luggages with us and we had to stop on the main road, we were greeted by the hotel staff who quickly helped us lug all the bags to the hotel. It is also an easy short walk away from everything you need, ie restaurants, Vinmart (our bottled water supplier for the few days), the lake, and rows of streets for souvenir shopping.

To sum it all, my family and I enjoyed our stay in Calypso and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Old Quarter Hanoi!

Great location near Beer Street in Old Quarter of Hanoi. Close to many attractions. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging our tickets and transportation to the Water Puppet Show and many other sight seeing tours.

Anthony was always at the front door to greet us with a smile and help us with our many shopping bags! He welcomed us as if we were family. I would stay here again when I visit the beautiful city of Hanoi.

We spent four nights here and enjoyed the friendly staff, quiet alley and central location. They offer a delicious complimentary breakfast and held our bags while we went to Bai Tu Long Bay. No regrets!

A friendly and welcoming team, they organised our visas, a driver to pick us up and our trip to Hanoi, they were easy to communicate with and helpful if we had any questions.

The hotel is looking a little tired, however still a peaceful and pleasent hotel. It is close to local attractions and some great little restaurants and street food.

We liked breakfast as there is a small buffet and a menu you can order from, I recommend the omelette.

Rooms are clean and functional and this is the only hotel I have liked the bathroom products, shampoo etc smells so good.

This hotel is in an alley and is a nice quiet place to be after a day in busy Hanoi.

The reception area could do with a tidy up, looked cluttered, the cards from guests are lovely but they are looking a little old scattered, the pile of booklets on the shelf could also be presented better. However not really a complaint because we absolutely loved our stay!

Just had a 5days in this hotel. To be honest it's perfect for one night which it seemed most people did for us it was difficult as there was no bar where you could get a coffee or drink after a long day sight seeing. We had a kettle in our room but had to sit on the bed for relaxation. The room only had one chair so for 5 days we were climbing over cases. The bath had no hand rail and a little box you had to stand on to get in for us more elderly folk it was quite dangerous. Having said all that the staff were very nice the breakfast excellent it was clean but not right for a long stay.
