The hotel is located ideally in the sense that it is within walking distance of many restaurants and all kinds of shops - souvenirs, electrical, nail salons, massage/spa. The Hoan Kiem Lake is also about a 10 min walk away. We took a street food tour where we were invited to taste quite a variety of food - all within walking distance.
The hotel reception staff, in particular, Thomas, were very pleasant and courteous. We (husband and I) had stayed 1 night and returned after the Halong Bay cruise for a further 2 nights. We could leave our extra luggage during the gap with no extra charge.During our stay, there was drilling going on due to construction in the neighbouring building which was quite noisy. When we complained, Thomas managed to get the problem sorted out.
As previous reviewers have stated, the breakfast truly is excellent. There is plenty of choice from western to asian - cheese, meatloaf, bacon, sausages, egg (scrambled/omellet/soft boiled/sunnyside...), noodles, breads, cereals, sushi, fruits, desserts, salads...Each day there was something different. In fact, it seemed like a brunch. Coffee was good.
To the chefs - keep up the good work!
Room - the first night we had the standard room(1003) which was pretty small with an ackward arrangement of the toilet - there was a wall right in front of the seat leaving hardly any space for a tall guy to sit comfortably. Later we were given a superior room (604) which was much better - with more space to move around. Only minor complaint would be that the toilet paper dispenser was right in the middle at the back above the cistern.
On the whole, I would revisit the hotel but need to book much earlier so that we can get a room with a window. Generally this hotel is fully booked.

Room Tip: The restaurant is on the 11th floor (highest floor) as is the swimming pool.

It is an oasis amid the Old Quarter streets in Hanoi. It offers a relax, pleasant place to return to. it is near by to the lake where you can have a pleasant walk about. The hotel staff are friendly and polite.

We stayed here for the final 4 nights of our visit to Vietnam - the room we were initially allocated was called a cosy superior - the room had no windows and was so compact that you could not open the wardrobe as it was too close to the bed and was very claustrophobic - made worse owing to me struggling with asthma - the management were very understanding and offers us an upgrade to a room with a window.

The hotel is ideally situated near the old quarter and walking distances to points of interest.

Comfortable beds, clean rooms, air conditioning , free Wi-fi

I cannot praise the hotel staff and management enough they pulled out all the stops to make our stay comfortable and we are truely grateful especially as our halong bay cruise was cancelled owing to bad weather

Cons

This hotel is not as modern as the hotels we have stayed in in other Vietnamese cities on this visit and the quality of the breakfast fell short of what we had become accustomed too ( we only ate breakfast 1 out of 3 morning)

The pool area is tiny and can only accommodate 4 people max - we didn’t use this facility as weather was quite windy

No hotel bar

The kitchen /restaurant staff were most amazing. They assisted us with all our requests since we are Muslim and we needed to separate the utensils to prevent contamination. The location is excellent for shoppers. The nearby shops saved us time and money since we could just walk in the vicinity.

Our stay at this hotel was not that great.
We had a room on the top floor which turned out to be right underneath the breakfast restaurant. This was quite noisy early in the morning with chairs being pushed over the floor.
But what struck me most is that I was told upon checkout that I had cracked a teacup in the room and they wanted me to pay for it (hotel policy). I disputed the matter and ended up not paying, but it left me with a bad impression.
Other then that though, I must say that most of the staff were friendly and the location was ok.
