This tour of local markets, food stalls and local restaurants was so interesting. Saw so much and tasted so much local food. From the moment we started we had a chicken drumstick in our hand. Thoroughly enjoyed it and our only tip would be don't eat before you set off. 5 star tour. Thank you Katy.

Our guide, Bella, was just perfect! She helped us navigate the busy city of Bangkok easily. Even though we knew that we were in a bustling epicenter, we felt like our entire journey was private, cozy, and a “inside view.” Bella was responsive to our needs and the entire Urban Tuk-Tuk journey was a dream.

This tour is awesome, hands down one of the best tours while in Thailand. Its a mixture of local cuisine and history about one of the oldest city ruins. Our tour guide Bella was incredible. From her vast knowledge about the history of Ayutthaya, to her excellent choices of food, she made the whole tour a day to remember. The local cuisine we tried was incredible and we got to see the very cool process of making cotton candy. The ruins them self were incredible and had many interesting stories behind them. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bangkok. Bella also does a food tasting tour in the city of Bangkok, which I will be sure to sign up for next time I am in Bangkok.

Arriving in Bangkok two days before my partner and I had rested as we hopped on the metro and headed to the Hua Lamphong MRT station where we easily found our experienced and informative guide Bella. This was a pre-booked evening tour starting at 5:30pm. Taking note of the tour information we had received we ate lightly during our day and "came hungry." Being an evening tour there were no market experiences but Bella carried some of the essential ingredients of dishes such as Pad Thai which she explained to us as our dishes were cooking at different settings. Some settings were at plastic tables on the streets with all their atmosphere but occasionally we moved in doors with fans or air-conditioning (yes, shorts and light clothing and comfortable walking shoes a must). The tour takes place in Bangkok's Chinatown precinct - one of the largest Chinatowns outside of China. To add extra atmosphere we were there at the height of the Chinese New Year celebrations (Year of the Dog). The highlight for me was eating the Pad Thai cooked for us on the corner of a busy intersection at what was easily identified as a very popular street cafe. Bella explained this store was famous with the locals for its Pad Thai speciality and this was obvious from the constant stream of takeaway orders which were being collected by locals. Other highlights included the sticky rice and fresh mango slices for dessert; and the ginger tea with small glutinous cinnamon filled dumplings immersed in the liquid (Tang Yuan). Overall we experienced over seven gastronomic delights including stir fries and red curry and we had to guide Bella to try and obtain smaller servings for us as we were so full even though we had "arrived hungry." This food tour which lasted approximately three hours fulfilled all our expectations leaving us with deeper knowledge of the dishes of Thailand and a greater understanding of the intercultural aspects of the fascinating city of Bangkok. Thank you Taste of Thailand Food Tours.

This Food Tour takes in the basics of what the average Thai eats , from the street vendor offerings, to a Restaurant meal of ‘green bowl’ curries.
Wear waterproof footwear as you will be visiting some of the local food preparation areas, places that the average tourist will never see.
You will eat sweets that I have never heard of before, and lots of variations of pork and duck, you even get to eat North Eastern traditional style (hands only, no cutlery)!
Overall an interesting experience, and our Tour Guide Katy was a wealth of knowledge about Thai food and it’s history.
