Chef was happy to accommodate my dietary needs and showed me some new ideas! I highly recommend this cooking school. They gave us some cute gifts of spices and bag. We ate what we prepared in the formal dining room overlooking the river. If we were staying longer, I would take more of the classes since they have a different menu each day. We washed our hands with kefir limes, a tradition I will definitely use when I return to USA.

This is a once in a life time experience and had been on my "bucket list" for a while. This is a very hands on class and best be joined during the week when less people sign up. This means, you will get a chance to do all the steps of the food preparation instead e.g. weekends - dishes are cooked in groups or groups are doing different stages of a dish. Weekend class are interesting as well as these include a market tour with the head chef. He is very knowledgeable and explains a lot when going over a traditional Thai market.

To really add the final Mandarin Oriental touch to it, the food is served after class in their Thai restaurant with a beautifully decorated table. That has style.

We had a great time today! It's a hands on cooking class from 9am till 2pm. We went to the wet market nearby and then cooked our own food and they helped serve them to us in this nice Thai restaurant. It's just perfect! And the building is a jewel and a heritage site with so much history ! The instructor Mr Natrain Kiattiyotchareon is simply excellent! Very patient and professional. Frankly, he has done this repeatedly everyday and can still maintain his passion and devotion to Mandarin Oriental! Amazing! Bravo to the whole team of staff who makes this experience unforgettable! Thanks.

To be honest I found it very boring because you don't really get to do much of the cooking, except for a bit of chopping and stirring. For a beginner or someone who has not cooked Thai dishes before, this would be an ideal class. If you are a cook and already familiar with cooking Asian dishes, then you might find this to be a very expensive lunch!
They advertised the class to be from 9-3pm on a weekend with a 1hour market tour. The market tour was kind of rushed and we were done by 12pm. The table was set up for us to eat what we prepared during class and then you don't even see the instructor or any staff again. You just assume it was done and find your way out. No staff was seen again. You can't even order drinks with your meal.
I choose this as the reviews for this class was all excellent, so had very high expectations. I failed to note there are about a year or so old, so perhaps things have gone downhill a bit. It is very expensive for what it is!
Booking experience was good, class room ambience was good, instructor was good (spoke good English) and they give you a very nice bag, apron, spices, recipe cards and certificate at the end.
