Been a few years that I read about their tomyum noodles and I managed to finally squeeze a visit to P'aor this year. The eatery is located at an area I've never visited, it was predominantly a thai muslim area which was quite an interesting walk that finally led to P'aor. The place is small and packed (even on weekday) with locals and a couple of tourists. The menu was simple with some pictures, we just ordered the tomyum noodles with prawn.
When I said prawn, that's what we got, noodles, tomyum soup base and 1 prawn. I thought they must be very confident of their soup base as there's nothing else supplementing the noodles (no mushrooms, herbs etc). I felt that the first sip of the soup was rather sweet, I would have preferred it a tad more sour and spicy. But the soup grows on you, after a few more mouthful, it's rather addictive (and less sweet). The prawn was very fresh and we really liked the texture of the noodles which was springy and smooth.
Was it over rated? Maybe, depends on what type of tomyum soup base you prefer. Also, if you ordered the basic bowl like me, some might immediately feel disappointed with it's lack of ingredients (there's a lot of ingredients choices, just make sure you check out the menu properly).
While I did enjoy this bowl of noodles, I doubt I'll return again.
