24/7 restaurant in town, good for every meal especially light dinner. Superb staff service with big smile though they are super busy during peak hours. Recommend for Thai and tourists around Rama4

I've been going to this restaurant for 33 years. Ate there 3 times during my 5 days in Bangkok last month. Looked forward to it. Even in a country known for it's great food, Malai is still one of my very favorite spots for me. It's really comfort food. What ever you want you can get. Back in the day this location was very lively, to say the least. They had a message board outside in the lobby to communicate with other travelers either coming or going thru out South/East Asia. Before the internet, the message boards were there to warn other travelers about dangers or to share rides or rooms in Asia. The travel circuit was just beginning. Singapore north to BKK and up into Kathmandu and beyond. A very exciting time to travel. "The Malaysia Hotel" and "Malai" coffee shop inside, has survived all these years. Travel was very new to Thailand, starting tourism after the Vietnam War ended. The place has changed owners but the menu is still the same. And the food is the same as I remember it in 1983. Nothing fancy. Mellow. So perfect. That never happens. When traveling thru Bangkok I always look forward to going there. After a long night on the town it was great to return to my safe restaurant where I knew I'd be happy. Anytime day or night I'd have the spagetti, shrimp, ice cream sunday anything. It's still the same and I love it!
