Just next to Maputo port, the musuem get attention from those who walk by to look at the architecture design of the building itself. Display of fishing gears and boats from the past let you know the way of living of artisanal fishermen in Mozambique. Those who are of intetested in fishery aspect should not missed.

The Fisheries Museum has been established in Maputo City since the year 2014 and was created to dedicate itself to safeguarding the cultural heritage of the country by researching, collecting, preserving, preserving and disseminating the history of fishing in the country. Installed in a building of roots, with an architecture signed by José Forjaz, one of the greatest architects in Mozambique, this Museum has a unique collection on the social and cultural history of fishing and on the evolution of fishing and fish technology. One of the greatest attractions of the Museum of Fisheries is the intangible heritage of the fishing activity, which includes testimonies, a collection of fishermen's songs, customs and customs presented in audiovisual format.

I just took a quick look. The items on display were labeled and easy to view. Very interesting history of fishing. Enjoyed the aquarium and the boats on display outside.

The museum is very simple, with a limited but very nice collection, set in an architecturally beautiful building, very elegant, light, airy and functional.
The location is great, next to the fortress and the Museu da Moeda (Currency Museum), right in the centre o town and next of the harbour. And the building makes use of the location with a nice view of the water and the town around.
Museollogically the exhibition could be improved, but it has a curious and interesting collection and it is definitely worth a visit.

This place is relatively small, but I really enjoyed the video and displays about the ways that Mozambicans live off the ocean. The video, which I think is just in Portuguese, was really interesting and showed how much respect and appreciation people have for the industry and the work. The displays upstairs were also well done and showed how fragile many of boats are that used to support Mozambique's fishermen. What you'll see there isn't about commercial fishermen, but about people who have been reared to live off what the sea gives. I really enjoyed it.
