Our hotel, Labadi Beach, had its own secure area with security to keep non residents out. This was helpful as the beach has got lots of traders trying to sell you items. The sand was clean and the sun beds comfortable. Trees and umbrellas provided necessary shade from the strong sun. Good vantage point for weddings on the beach too!

I came by taxi and the driver paid to stop at the beach. He looked after my valuables. On the way to the beach I was pestered to eat at a beach restaurant. On the beach I was hassled by a man who said he was a "lifeguard" and wanted money to look after my clothes. The beach would suit surfers rather than simple swimmers. Changing facilities were very basic and I was hassled again

Labadi beach is a must visit if you are vacationing in Accra. Very popular and very clean. You would need to put on some insect repellant cos there are a lot of mosquitoes and insects.

Of my many reviews, this is the worst now. Crowded, noisy, unsafe, dirty and annoying. Why?
-Crowded: if you drive there you would have to struggle to get in, find a parking and leave. If you in a taxi, you will walk from main road a long distance to reach so called entrance
- noisy: each vendor on the beach having table s and chairs under an umbrella has his own sound system and taste and it is annoyingly loud and fast beat, not to forget the horrible speaker qualities
- unsafe: keep your belongings in your front pockets and never leave amything unattended. So always someone must keep watch.
- dirty: if you walking on the beach, wear slippers as you will avoid broken glass, used needles and other nasties. Of in water, prepare for an assault of sewage infested water coming from open drains of Accra and ailliom tons of plastic bags floating everywhere
- annoying: you won't be left alone a minute from hawkers and hookers trying to make a sale, in goods or kind. You can't look at any vemdor's goods from afar as they will notice and come straight to you to sell. Do you want a manicure, African art, cigarettes, massage? And the list is endless

Oh and be careful what you eat... None of the places have proper running water

So forget about a relaxing day on the beach there or time to finish that book. Instead be ready for a market.

But if you insist, go early morning, on a weekday and take your chances.
