Whenever i have visitors from abroad, there is one place that never dissapoints. The ambiance and environment at Garwe is typical Zimbabwean and the hot meals are always amaizing and delivered in the shortest possible time.

Have always enjoyed tradional dishes in Harare at this great, quiet, tranquil hideout just about 5km outside the CBD to the east of the city, in the vicinity of Rhodeville. You just feel at home, and the meals are tailor made to your liking. I like my meals served self service, from my own ‘fire’ - I just love it. The place we usually visit with our regional and international guests to showcase the rural Zimbabwe richness in food diversity, the novel foods!

Waiter kept suggesting on pork bones. Turns out they were off, pre-cooked, frozen, reheated & served. They were overseasoned but the smell & taste cut through. Overpriced, environs poor, portions tiny. So for 5 pieces of road runner chicken, goat stew (to replace the rotten pork bones), sadza rezviyo & rice/dovi $60 local. The best sadza is $2 street sadza. Pagava is not an option either - they ruin the road runner with poor seasoning.

For those that love eating meat it is definitely a must! There is a great variety in meats, different starch from either maize, ropka as well as traditional meal. As well as green leaf vegetables and tomato relish, kapenta. The service is excellent and the vibe is one to relax and enjoy a nice meal with ethnic furnishings. Definitely a must and a great place for locals to enjoy good quality meals.

Having enjoyed myself before, I was shocked by the level of service received at Garwe . Plates were dirty. Glass had white residue on it. Portions have become smaller.Seating area dirty
