Having loved every minute of our stay at Dar Les Cigognes for our honeymoon 10 years ago, we were keen to return for our anniversary. Our second stay was even more amazing, mostly due to the especially friendly, warm welcome and excellent service throughout our entire stay offered by Hayat and Hajiba and the rest of the staff.
We loved returning to the oasis that is the Dar Les Cigognes roof terrace each day after wandering through the markets and sightseeing. With it's well-tended garden, views across rooftops, storks returning to their nests, complimentary mint tea and delicious Moroccan pastries or an easily-ordered glass of wine and platter of olives, it's the perfect place to relax. I also enjoyed a massage one afternoon, a lovely experience in the tranquil on-site spa (a hammam is also available).
We stayed in the ornate Silver room this time and thought it was one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in. You can sense the history of the room/place, it's beautifully decorated, everything is thoughtfully provided (bathrobes, beauty products, a fruit bowl, slippers, biscuits and even a poem at bedtime) and we slept extremely well as it's so comfortable, quiet and dark at night.
It's tempting to never leave Dar Les Cigognes once you arrive, and this could be an option if you wanted to given the gorgeous roof terrace, restaurant on-site (inc. cooking classes), relaxing beauty services and beautifully-decorated rooms and general areas. Hayat and Hajiba really made it feel like our home and we were part of the family. It was very hard to leave, but we hope to return much sooner than in another 10 years!

Room Tip: The Silver room was beautiful with ample space and thoughtful details.

This was the best, warm welcoming and professional reception at a hotel that we have every had. (and we have been to MANY hotels worldwide).

Ms Hayet is very professional and manages the hotel at a very high level.

The riad is very beautiful and luxurious, From a guest point of view, it's important to know the difference between a hotel a riad, before to make a choice. Riad is a guest house which has a the archictecture of a Marrocan villa, so the rooms have their entries and sometimes windows facing the patio, which might result in a lack of daylight.

The rooms are very beautiful, clean and the services at the Dar Les Cigognes were always very good. The staff in general are helpful and friendly.

We found the room very small with no chair available, based on the pictures we expected to receive a larger room with maybe more facilities. The wifi connection is very bad and there was no television in the room.

The location is safe and once you got used to the area, you'll realize how good it is located. The roof terrrace is GORGEOUS.

We arrived today and what a reception-it was warm, friendly, helpful, and made us really feel at home. I cannot praise our first day at dar les cigognes highly enough.

We had a choice of rooms and the rooms are themed- we're in the Sahara dessert and what a lovely cosy room it is.

We arrived back from exploring the souks this afternoon to free tea and cake in the seating area! Just what we needed.

Being cooler in temperature in Morocco currently, we arrived back to our room tonight to a heater on and hot water bottles in the bed that had been turned down ready and waiting for us.

So, day one and we're over the moon with this homely and wonderful riad.

We stayed her for Valentines day and our 44th anniversary trip. Unfortunately my wife became ill during the trip. They could not have done more. The cooking class and walking tour with Pierre was great and so was Hayat at the front desk. The rooms were great. Truly Moroccan. The Riad only has 11 rooms and has an exceptional restaurant. Breakfast on the roof was great with the view of the Palace stork in her nest exceptional.

When we arrived to the Riad and sat down in the tiled courtyard with a fountain in the middle to sip some thé à la menthe, it seemed like we've arrived to paradise. The Riad is beautiful, with high vaulted ceilings, abundant tiling and woodwork around. Our bedroom was lovely, soft cotton bedlinen, spacious tadelakt bathroom, creams and shampoos provided in charming local bottles with metal lids with silk tassels. Throughout our stay we kept on thinking, however, that the distance to the centre of the Medina could have been shorter, and that the services could have been cheaper - breakfast @ 180 DRH and airport pick-up service @ 300 DRH seemed a bit steep. On our last day, we tried breakfast on the gorgeous terrace with lemon and orange trees in terracotta pots, watching the local stork arranging its nest, and thought that the breakfast was worth every penny. When we were leaving, our pre-booked car (200 DRH return, seemed a good deal) didn't arrive, and the manager called us a local taxi for 60 DRH. We only had 50 DRH left, and he gave us the missing 10 DRH. We were touched, we realised we stayed in the right place.
