Description: The Amal Women's Training Center and Moroccan Restaurant is a non-profit association dedicated to empowering disadvantaged women via training in traditional and modern cuisine. The ultimate goal is personal transformation, skill set re-enforcement, and job placement for economic and social stability. At our second center in the Targa neighborhood, we offer cooking class in traditional Moroccan dishes such as tajines, couscous, and pastilla. An all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet is available in Amal Targa center every Saturday.

Would highly recommend the cooking class at the Amal centre to anyone looking to get away from the crowds of Marrakesh and do something a little different! We made chicken tagine which was absolutely delicious - by far the best tagine we ate on our trip because it was so fresh. While the food is cooking you get the chance to relax in the peaceful gardens with some tea, and find our more about the centre and Moroccan culture. You're welcomed to ask anything you like so it's a great chance to find out more about this fascinating country.

It's great to know that your money is going towards such a fantastic initiative too.

Hello,

Thank you so much for the great review and recommendation!

We are so happy to know you had a good time at the cooking class.

It is always a pleasure for the chef Lalla Fatiha to share Moroccan cuisine with others!

We can't wait to see you again!

Went for lunch after visiting the Jardin Majorelle. We booked online in advance, which was a good idea as it was pretty full that day. The menu was written on a portable blackboard in French. When I tried to order food from the servers in my limited French, they simply asked me to wait for the server who spoke English. It was a long while before we could order our food.

After our main course, we ordered dessert from a server who seemed to understand our order in French. After about 20 minutes, the server who spoke English came to our table and asked if we wanted anything else. We told her we had already ordered dessert but she said she could not find our order. As a result, the dessert we wanted was sold out. I think in future it’d be easier for them if they have bilingual menus and guests could point at the dish on the menu to make orders.

Despite the miscommunication, it was a pleasant lunch in a beautiful setting. I appreciate how Amal is an NGO that helps to train women. With their top position on Tripadvisor, perhaps they should consider teaching their servers some basic English.

We went out of our way to have lunch at this place, since it is for a great cause and had many good reviews. The menu was French inspired and was quite good.

There were many other tourists dining, which is great support for this women's centre.

We highly recommend.

We as family did the cooking workshop "tagine lamb prunes and almonds" at Amal. It was such a wonderful experience. It was fun cooking together. My daughter of 6 also loved it. The food was really tasty; the service and facilities were excellent. The setting of the training centre is beautiful. We also had tea in the garden and made filo. Definitely will do another workshop on our next visit to Marrakech. Also love the concept of the training centre. They train women (widows, single moms, divorcees) so they can have opportunity to find a living on their own, therefore the price is reasonable.
