Worth allowing plenty of time to explore. Don't worry about getting lost - just ask and the people will be very helpful

this is the real adventure to experience during the journey. Be ready to be cool and calm while you are being followed and haggling is guess the part of their culture.

Through our Riad we booked a guide for half a day to take us to most of the highlights of the Medina. You not only get a good first impression of the city, it's history, but also the lock customs. Absolute recommendation if it's your first visit to Marrakesh!

Google maps offline worked surprisingly great showing in 99% cases the exact location so we were never lost in Medina which is a wonderful place where you will find everything. Of course keep your purse in sight as you never know when you can lose it due to the crowd. Not many sellers "attacked" us so I take it a a huge plus (6 years ago was way worse).

This place is crazy..you will be followed, bothered, almost run over, hassled constantly, probably scammed but it will be a great experience if you read up and know what to expect.
Avoid henna ladies who will draw on your hand without asking then demand money, avoid snake charmers and monkey owners as they too will charge a fortune for pictures. Do not fall for 'free samples' as you will be charged. Do not ask or accept help for directions..you will be charged.
Do not fall for tannery scams and do not fall for 'you are going wrong way'comments as you will end up with an unwanted guide who will demand payment lol.
Wear sunglasses and do not touch anything unless you want to buy it.
Its great fun if you do your research first!
this helps :)
