Description: Rick's Cafe Casablanca is a restaurant, bar and cafe located in the city of Casablanca, Morocco. Opened March 1, 2004, the place was designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie classic Casablanca. Set in an old courtyard-style mansion built against the walls of the Old Medina of Casablanca, the restaurant - piano bar is filled with architectural and decorative details reminiscent of the film: curved arches, a sculpted bar, balconies, balustrades as well as beaded and stencilled brass lighting and plants that cast luminous shadows on white walls. There is an authentic 1930's Pleyel piano and As Time Goes By is a common request to the in-house pianist

For a tourist trap, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, but the pleasantries end there. The food was mediocre and the atmosphere was smoky and the restaurant small (nothing like the beautiful open space you see in the movie). Most frustrating was the service which was extremely slow and ineffective. Our table wasn't set with napkins and we had to ask at least 5 times to get them (and it was only at the end of the meal that we did). Similarly, we had to ask multiple times for water and were never served bread (which the male servers did for a table of all females that they seemed to favor). The server also missed putting in one person's entree.

We visited because one person in our group is a diehard Casablanca movie fan. Besides the ability to say you were at Rick's Cafe, there's nothing else about this restaurant to brag about.

Yes, it is a tourist attraction and yes it is expensive. But having watched the legendary movie Casablanca, it is a must to stop by for a drink or two at the Rick's Cafe. It is all you imagined and more. Food is delicious and the setting just perfect. Staff is ok, had friendlier in Casablanca.

One of the best meals I had throughout my entire trip in Morocco was the lemon chicken tagine I had here.

Yes, it is a restaurant set up for tourism and yes, the movie wasn't even filmed in Casablanca. But, there is an atmosphere at this restaurant that you can't find anywhere else.

It is on the expensive side, but the food is good and so is the service.

I recommend a reservation if going in the evening.

We did make a reservation for 4 persons (in French).

When we did arrive the man in the reception did claimed that the reservation was for 3 persons.

He did clearly want extra money in his hand for give us the table we had reserved.

Incredible bad.

Stay away from this tourist trap.

There is much better food and atmosphere in other restaurants in Casablanca.

Our party arrived after 9PM on a Sunday night. We passed an enjoyable evening listening to a talented and versatile jazz quartet, introduced by the gracious owner of Rick’s. We ordered light appetizers and a couple of bottles of Moroccan wine: delicious! Well-attired clients filtered in, animating the place with life. Great environment - lighting, acoustics, air quality, and friendly service.
Prices were reasonable, especially considering the popularity and the overall high quality experience.
