Jimmy, our Hawaiian tour guide and salt of the earth made this leg of our trip by far the most memorable of our 2 week stay. On a moments notice, he had our entire trip planned and had my wife and I scrambling for the shower because “he’s on his way”!
Our “All day tour” was indeed, all day! Our first leg started with a immediate mountain trek to over see the cityscape of Waikiki. Amazing! I instantly had an urge to make out with my wife but I held firm. She started Hula dancing, I started scratching my head because I had no idea she had those tasty and wavy moves!
Next we paid our respects at Pearl Harbor. Lots of depth to digest from this historic event.
Then off to the Kona Coffee plantation. If coffee is part of your regiment, shop shop shop. Lots of good coffee and gifting options. At this stage, make sure your phones are charged in order to soak up the rich and beautiful tropical eye candy as you trek through a short hike to reach the waterfall. This view brought the Tarzan out of me and I jumped in to cool freshwater lagoon. This impressed even my wife! U so sexy, she whispered in my ear as as I dried in the sun strapping my Velcro shoes. Next... off to North Shore! If your not familiar with NS, this is where we have 60-100 ft waves during winter months. Clearly we didn’t see those today but the powers of being there was super cool. By now Lunch was knocking on our doors and we ended up at the world famous Giovanni’s shrimp truck. Forrest Gump has nothing on this shrimp because Man oh man, garlic shrimp and chili shrimp was perfect. I ended up buying a second round for the hotel! By now, my honey and I were on the tired side yet Jimmy pushed on. He wanted to make sure we went to the “Blowhole”. He was right, the sunset was in our reach and another small hike behind the “ do not enter “ signs which none of us saw, the Blow Hole allowed us to capture Gods trifecta. Perfectly timed water spewing from a hole in the rock with the sun and ocean in the background. Absolute magic. BTW did I mention Jimmy is a part time journalist and photographer? This gem of a person was taking pictures and videos of me and my wife throughout the entire trip and captured why our 25th wedding anniversary was a special milestone.
I can’t say enough about our day. When I feel the spirt of Aloha I clearly see the beautiful warm people of the island and most importantly, I see Jimmy. He wanted to make sure we had a perfect day and he succeeded.
