We took out two boys, ages 10 and 12, to Captain Jak's in Placencia, Belize. My husband and I had been to Placencia 4 years ago, loved it, and thought it would be a great family adventure...we were right!
Silena and Art, the guesthouse managers, and their staff, were friendly, professional, timely, supportive, knowledgeable, helpful, and great to stay with.
Silena helped organize our day to day schedules, excursions, tours, and accommodation needs, and Art was a fantastic, patient, knowledgeable, and fun tour, snorkelling guide, and sea Captain...what a beautiful day at Laughing Bird Key!
We saw lobsters, crabs, squid, a huge variety of fish and coral, and most amazingly, tens of dolphins and manatees thanks to a surprise stop planned by Art. We're all still amazed at how many we saw...what an incredible sight and experience!
Captain Jak's is conveniently located on the lagoon side of the peninsula,at a perfect spot in the village, which offers more privacy and variety from the beautiful dock, as well as all the amenities you need on and along the main road. Restaurants, banks, markets, local homes, food stands, ice cream, tour offices, souvenir shops, and all that you'll need for your stay, along with the beachfront, are only moments away and fun little walks through town.
You can rent bikes, scooters, and golf carts at Captain Jak's for good prices too for whatever your plans or needs.
Captain Jak's also know and suggest local and sincere tour businesses and guides, and we were happy and secure working with the team to make our tours and adventures awesome!
I can go on; the lovely grounds, the other friendly guests, the beautiful dock and lagoon, our wonderdul family cabana, the nature and wildlife - hummingbirds, Oliver the resident parrot, Peanut, the adorable rabbit our boys named, geckos, lizards, iguanas, racoons, butterflies, and birds and fish of all kinds - the lookout tower for sunsets and village views - made it more than the perfect place for our family to stay.
Clean, rustic, well maintained, and a friendly community within the village. We wish we didn't have to leave!
Thanks to the whole team at Captain Jak's and Silena and Art. We'll be back as soon as we can!

3 friends total stayed at the “Buckshot “ cabin- PERFECT!!! Loved everything about it. Must mention the customer service & friendly staff on site: Salina, Lucky, Erin & my bad on names- young man always working on something to keep the guests happy- fantastic job & no need to change. You all made us feel welcomed, thanks for that!!
Anyone who stays at Capt Jak’s & is miserable - you seriously need a reality check!! We did it all- rented bikes, golf carts & kayaks- busy or not, the staff was at our attention & ready to help! Also, full
of knowledge- couldn’t ask for any better. It’s nice to be able to easily say:
We will be back!!
Thanks for a great stay!!

We rented our golf cart through Captain Jak's , they came to our hotel picked us up brought us back to the office and let us take the cart from there, it was very convenient and they were by far the cheapest company around , i have nothing but satisfaction about our transaction with them.

My daughter and I stayed for a week in late August in a Cabana with a great view of the lagoon. If you want to stay in a place where you get immersed in the local everything this is it. From the moment Jason greeted us as we pulled in, to being invited to their staff party, Happy Hour at Barefoot and lunch you quickly become more than a guest. If you are more of a hanging around the pool, do not want to leave the grounds sort of person then choose one the resorts 15 minutes north of Placencia...but if you want to get to know Placencia stay at Captain Jak's.

Room Tip: The 3 Cabana's do not have A/C...if you need A/C take another one of the rooms.

Nice, Cozy, Rustic is just a few words to describe the Cabañas at Captain Jak's. I fell in love with this place when we stayed in Placencia... I didn't want to leave.

The Cabaña has a kitchenette and that sealed the deal for us.
You can wake up in the early mornings, make a cup of tea/coffee, sit on the balcony and relax while sipping/drinking your warm liquid and admire nature around you while daylight breaks or, you can sit on the deck by the water and enjoy your beautiful surroundings then start your day.

In the evenings while your hectic day comes to an end, you can unwind on the balcony or deck by water with ice cold beers and watch the beautiful sunsets. Tranquility.

I most def. recommend Captain Jak's Cabañas, it's worth a stay!
