Best place on a Budget

Review of Jeremiah's Inn
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 7, 2017via mobile
The good; cheapest accommodation we could find in Caye Caulker for a double room. Great location near the top of the island and right next door to grocery stores and restaurants. While small and shared, the shower was the hottest water I've experienced on our entire trip. I really appreciated the option of having a hot shower. Wifi was fast, but worked best outside of the room (be sure to ask for the password tho).

The ok; our room was very basic. While it was cozy for the 2 of us, it was also very hot and only had a fan which kind of just blew around the hot air. The mattress was pretty uncomfortable. Also the staff and owners are hard to get a hold of some days, but when they were there, very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The less than ok; the kitchen is barely a kitchen. Sand floors and only a single burner attached to a gas tank. No utensils, but they do have a microwave and fridge. And being right on a main stretch of Caye Caulker, it occasionally got very loud when people got a bit roudy at night.

But essentially, we had a nice stay at Jeremiah's and I would recommend it if you are traveling as a couple on a budget. Next time I will splurge for air conditioning.

Hey, on an island where everything is overpriced, this place is as sane as it gets for private rooms. Needs a little TLC, sure, but for simple, cheap rooms it's hard to beat. It's right on the beach, over a supermarket, no discos nearby at night. This is a place for crashing, no frills.

I do not agree with half of the things said on the last review, but it may depend on which room you are in or your expectations.
The beds were ok, 5/10 for pillow & bed comfort. I slept fine but I was really tired when I slept so that helped.
Hot or cold showers yes. But the shower head sprayed every direction so you barely got any water pressure on you.
Fan was enough with the weather in January.
A lot of things needed repair but it was liveable. Like the faucets are loose, showerhead issues. Drip from ceiling in bathroom sometimes. Rust on drying bars in bathroom. But to me, these things are minor and can be overlooked with the budget friendly cost.
Location was perfect. Staff are very nice.
I agree with the review on it being indoor camping.
If you are open minded & looking for a cheap, prime location, stay here!

Very comfortable bed, my favorite part of this inn. Hot showers and good water pressure. No mosquito net on windows, thought this would be a problem so the manager actually brought a mosquito net from home for me to use. But is was never needed. At night we didn't even use the fan, it was enough for us to have the windows open. Perfect breeze from the sea. Location is perfect. And very nice manager helping us out with what we needed. Kitchen is very basic but enough to cook some simple breakfast/lunch/dinner. Budget friendly. We booked 2 nights at first. Ended up staying like 8.

We had a good time at this hostel and especially enjoyed our communication with the lady that runs it. We stayed there for three days and cooked our dinners there. Just in front of the hostel there is a nice place where you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise.

If you need a place to rest your head on a budget and you are ok with roughing it stay here. Go here thinking camping, but indoors. Its location is great if you want to be close to the ferry, the Split, good food, and stores. The mummy rastas out front might ask you to buy them a beer or buy some brick packed mexico weed, but its still a safe place to rest and clean-up.

Room tip: Buy the extra money for A/C if visiting in September.
