Review of Jeremiah's Inn
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 12, 2016
If you need a place to rest your head on a budget and you are ok with roughing it stay here. Go here thinking camping, but indoors. Its location is great if you want to be close to the ferry, the Split, good food, and stores. The mummy rastas out front might ask you to buy them a beer or buy some brick packed mexico weed, but its still a safe place to rest and clean-up.
Date of stay: September 2016
Room Tip: Buy the extra money for A/C if visiting in September.

Stayed here for 3 nights, just turned up as our intended hostel was full.

The young girl on reception was absolutely lovely and checked us in, showing us the 3 different options of rooms she had available. Also informing us that the island was having a power shortage and it would sometimes cut out, advising us it may not be worth paying extra for the a/c room.

She also told us of 3/4 good restaurants and was always happy to help.

We decided to go for the room with the ocean view as it had large windows to let in a breeze instead of going for the a/c room. The bed was comfy and the bathroom nice and clean with hot water.

The kitchen was very basic but fine for cooking a small lunch or something. The reception wasn't always open, but the owners lived above and were more than helpful assisting us when we wanted to extend out stay.

Yes some of the street vendors did play there music till late, but the majority of nights we went out so wasn't a problem. Other than that location was great, right on the beach and a few minute walk from the centre and the split.

Rooms were reasonably priced, would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a week and everything was absolutely perfect. We paid 80 Belize a night (extra for AC) and the room got cold and the beds were super comfy! We had no problem with noise outside the room. The shower got hot and cold and everything worked just fine. The receptionist was the sweetest lady in the world and took care of us everyday! Would stay here again and again. Perfect budget place for any traveler! The location was spot on!! Amazing price for the location. In the middle of everything! Did not have to walk to far to any side of the island. And only a few seconds from the beach.

I am so glad I stayed at this place. It has a familiar atmosphere, right in the middle of the island main road but with no noise by night.
The owner is a welcoming and lovely woman, I was traveling by my self and she gave me some good advices.
The room was neat and clean.
The breakfast is included, they offer you bananas, coffee and eggs, is a self-service so you make your own meal in the outdoors kitchen.
      Highly recommended.

Room tip: Better to choose a room with AC, the others have fan but the island is humid so better pay a bit more and get some good sleep.

The courtyard and outside areas are a little run down. The little kitchen is VERY Spartan. Was happy for the fridge and morning DIY breakfast.

      Bring bug spray.

I understand that it's not the owners' fault, but the vendors out front start their lousy reggae music very early and very loud.

Look out for construction if you want to stay in this area. Although guests are asked to keep quiet after 11:pm, the workers were still using power tools after 11:30 pm and as early as 7:am.

The staff are very friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean and the AC works well.

We arrived in the evening during high season, so we spent the first night at Yuma's Guesthouse. The owner recommended Jeremiah's Inn and we didn't regret it. It is kind of difficult to find a budget place around the island if you don't want to sleep in a dorm. We visited many places on the island, but Jeremiah and Sun and See (which was fully booked) were the only ones that seemed to have a good value for money if you are looking for a double without paying US or European prices for a simple hotel.

      Pros:
We paid 66 Bz dollars per night (taxes included). The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. A DIY breakfast (eggs, toast, jelly, coffee, tea) was included as well! The location is great, next to the communal beach and within walking distance of all restaurants. You didn't have any noise from the streets. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

      Cons:
Of course this is a budget place, so although there were two vans in the room, the nights were hot. We had to bring are own mosquito net (recommended on this island) and the roof could use some fresh paint.

In conclusion: 5 stars for the great value for money. If you are looking for a little more comfort, go somewhere else, but you will probably have to pay four times more...
