We totally agree, that stepping onto Ramon’s village is a “quintessential tropical vibe and village charm, providing a serene atmosphere.” It is most certainly and positively a unique resort and place to stay in Ambergris Caye. We enjoyed our weeklong stay. We opted for a Jungle delux room (we did not have a view of the water, but of the lush, green and floral surroundings of the resort from a second-floor room). The room was very nice (it’s a jungle resort, not a modern resort, so set your expectations appropriately). The room AC worked very well, as did the fridge and microwave. The bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. The room was clean and well kept with cleaning service every day. The bathroom was well appointed and there was plenty of space for us and our personal items and gear. We found the staff all to be friendly and professional and all speak English well. We found Jack, our waiter, most days in the restaurant to be friendly, affable and quite personable with a “Jack-tastic” attitude. Jack was more friendly than most staff. They provide fresh beach towels upon request at the front desk. There were few nuances that were surprising. The bar is right next to the restaurant. Right beside each other, with a common adjacent staff door. However, you can’t get water at the bar, you have to go to the restaurant. You can’t get ice (only) in the restaurant, you have to get that from the bar. They serve only beer and wine, no liquor. They had a limited number of juices (only available at the restaurant) for $US3.55, plus GST and tip. It’s a tad off putting to have to know where to go to get what in a resort this small in size. We were accidentally left at the airport (they provide pick-up and drop-off service). Fortunately, they are a 7-minute walk from the airport and came and got us and our bags as soon as the mistake was noticed. We did have to remind the staff to clean our room the first day, but after that it was done whilst we were diving. The air conditioner is over the bed. Great in theory, but also permits an occasional water drop on the bed. There was a tropical wave off the coast while we were there which caused high rough seas. At least every day, and often multiple times a day, the staff were there grooming and cleaning the beach. One day we noticed they were cleaning all day and moving, replacing and repairing the sand on the beach. The beach and grounds were all meticulously maintained – even through some rough weather.
