The little touches of personalized yet extremely attentive service at Matachica sets this place apart from all the big name hotels. They sent a house car to pick us up, which is entirely different than having an unmarked taxi contracted with the big name hotel. During the 35 min ride from Tropic Air, our driver asked us for our welcome drink order, which is anything they have at the bar. And throughout our short stay, every staff member we encountered seemed to know which room we were in. As we were heading out for the day, the front desk ran up to us to inform us of the evacuation accommodations due to the impending hurricane. We never would have stopped at the desk otherwise.

Lastly, I am extremely grateful that Matachica is still under the Hyatt umbrella as a Mr & Mrs Smith property with the ending of the partnership with SLH. This allowed me to book using the Hyatt app and also allows for points redemption if one desires. Hyatt Globalist breakfast benefits were excellent per usual and absolutely appreciated not having to sign off on a check. The upgrade from the garden view to the ocean view was a huge bonus as we essentially had direct access to the beach.

We had a great stay at Matachica Resort! The staff were welcoming of our large couples/birthday group and provided exceptional service. We all loved having our own fruit-named casitas too! The resort has a relaxing feel, the grounds are well kept, and the pool atmosphere is lovely..not to mention the tree bar cocktails. We enjoyed the restaurant menu and wine selection too.
If you want to snorkel, sight see and visit Caye Caulker, book a day tour through the resort. Job and Charlie were fun hosts and showed us a great time!
I highly recommend staying at Matachica if you're visiting Ambergris Caye. Thank you for everything!
