Classic, comfortable, attractive, small hotel close to the center and train station.

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 15, 2024
I like small hotels and this one had an old-world cozy quality that I enjoyed. It also has a lounge on the second floor with good Coffee machines, which is wonderful to just pop over in the morning and get your first cup. Clean attractively designed room and good size bathroom and shower. Two plastic water bottles left in the room are usually complimentary in other hotels, here they were asking $5. each. When I asked for a map of the area, they did not have one. Most hotels offer maps to show your location and the area. I was told they had been discontinued. One front desk attendant made the effort to search and the next day he presented us with the map. Very nice of him. The hotel has the Dubliner Restaurant, a well-known bar, and eatery in DC. The location of the hotel is not far from the center and one block from the train station.

Good location for capitol hill . The rooms are bijou but fine . Coffee station on the 2nd floor makes up for no coffee facilities in room … but is a bit of a pain . I had breakfast in the Dubliner … don’t bother … very slow, not friendly at all… go to corner bakery instead .

Room tip: Go to corner bakery for breakfast

The room was very comfortable and the guest laundry was convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for walking to attractions and Union Station. Really enjoyed the Dubliner food, service and live music.

Check in was good very nice staff. Went to our room it was tucked in a corner small room which wasn’t too much of an issue the issue was the shape as the corner cut off on an angle at the corner of the bed which did not leave much space to get round the bed. There was space for 1 suitcase against the wall at bottom of the bed on the luggage rack but the other 1 had to be at the side and the side was literally the size of the case when laid down. Small bottles of water in room $5. Hairdryer, safe, iron & ironing board in room. WiFi good. Room was clean bed comfy. Coffee and tea on 2nd floor which was nice to have and there is a water cooler in a room on that floor also. Location was good. Union station just across the road and up the street not far. Dubliner attached to hotel was good and good food it gets really busy. Washington is a lovely place to visit with plenty to do.
I would recommend this hotel.

I had a great experience during my stay at Phoenix Park Hotel. The only changes I would recommend would be to add coffee pots to the rooms and open the restaurant earlier. My group that was staying there had a 6-block walk to class and we had to arrive before 7:30 am., the restaurant doesn't open until 7 am. This was inconvenience. With that said, it was close to the bus stops and Union Station, so it was easy to site see and do things around the city.

Important person scheduled for one day meeting. Arrived in the middle of the night, due to flight delays, she was welcomed and found a lovely room with comfy bed. Was well rested and ready for all day interview. BTW, she got the job!
