This is a great hotel, we enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and it is all modern furnishing and decorations. We received a welcome bag o snacks upon our arrival and they gave a seperate one to our daughter. It is a little bit more upscale than "normal" and our room was fairly large and had an almost full kitchen. There was also a desk area with ample charging which ended up being helpful for both my husband and I as we were still keeping tabs on work things during our vacation. Our bed was very comfy and our 10 year old slept on the pull out sofa. The kitchen included a full size fridge/freezer, a microwave, sink, dishwasher, and a two burner stove top. The dishware was pretty sparse but we found what we needed. There were a few different pots and pans and I found a colander. We weirdly had exactly 1 regular plate. We had four sort of low bowls that aren't exactly plates arent exactly bowls, and 4 bowls. There was also a small coffee maker that was a bit confusing to figure out but once I did it worked fine.
Everything was clean and in working order. The two biggest "cons" were the HVAC was insanely rattly and we actually turned it off in the middle of the night once because it was so annoying. The tub also drained at a snails pace so you were definitely standing in an inch or so of water while taking a shower. These two things while annoying weren't really enough to make us complain about anything.
The breakfast was fairly comprehensive. I dont eat meat so I didn't pay a ton of attention but it seemed like a decent selection of offerings. The thing that I was truly excited about was there was oat milk available as part of the free breakfast. There was a big pitcher by the food area (Im guessing for cereal) and another pitcher by the coffee station. I must not have been the only one excited about this as the one by the coffee station was completely empty the first day we were there (I just went and used the other one). As a vegan this was extremely exciting to me there was a plant based choice, it literally made my day.
The coffee station was kept out and available throughout the day though but the pitchers of milk/creamer were put away and the little pods of creamer were available.
We did try the indoor pool which was one of the reasons I booked the hotel. We were there during February break and I didn't see a single person with a bathing suit or towel in the hotel ever and we had to search the internet to find the location of the pol so we assumed it would be fairly quiet when we got there but boy were we wrong. I think everyone was in the pool. The pool is fairly small and Id say there was 15-20 people in it the entire time we were there using it. The water was luke warm. Not exactly cold, not exactly warm. Weirdly the room the pool was in was fairly cold and not humid and hot like I would have expected. There were plenty of towels available and there was also a hot tub. I imagine the business of the pool while we were there was related to school vacation as it was all families.
The hotel is easily walkable to the National Mall area. There is a Starbucks along the way. It is closer to the end with the Smithsonian museums and not the monuments but we did walk all the way down to the monuments. There aren't really many restaurants in the area however at least within walking distance. There was a burger place directly next to the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay again. The proximity to the National Mall is great since you can just walk over and not have to worry about driving or parking or a cab.
