Review of sweetgreen

sweetgreen
Ranked #24 of 3,723 Restaurants in Washington DC
Certificate of Excellence
Description: sweetgreen is a destination for simple, seasonal, healthy food. We believe the choices we make every day about what we eat, where it comes from, and how it's made have a lasting impact on our communities. From the seed to the store, we're involved in every step of the supply chain, working with partners and farmers we know and trust. We make our food from scratch in each sweetgreen every day, using whole produce delivered that morning. As sweetgreen grows, we're dedicated to working with the right people. We've built a family of 1,500 hardworking individuals who care about developing future leaders and live our core values daily. We meet farmers before we meet landlords. We turn our new neighbors into friends. We're building a brand that connects to local neighborhoods and leaves communities better off than we found them. Our vision is to change the way people live their lives, starting with how they think about food.

The salads are made fresh and mixed by the staff, so you can watch and add/leave out things as they go. The salads are made in a compostable bowl, which is on one hand a huge plus. On the other hand, I wonder why they don't serve them in real plates to save the trash altogether. The fact that they cover the bowl with a plastic lid and give out plastic cups for water ruins the environmental effort altogether.
But the salad was yummy, even if quite expensive ($12+)!

My partner and I stopped here for a quick bite after the Library tour. My Cauliflower salad was a bit too spicy but was very tasty could've done with a bit more raisins and cauliflower, too much rocket. Partners guac salad was too lemon flavored even though he asked for mild. Probably better to grab a pizza a few doors down or drop into the bakery or burrito place next door but we felt like something tasty. Overall it's nothing spectacular but good if you want something healthy. My salad was $11.95

Best place if u are on a budget and wanna stay healthy!
Generous portions, great variety and friendly staff!
Unfortunately I discovered this gem on our last night here otherwise it would have been ‘the usual’ dinner location.
I wish we had one in Amsterdam.

Didn't get enough of the "green" so had to ask for some extra salad and then they drowned this little green salad with a truckload of "sweet" sugared dressing...How to ruin a salad in 2 seconds. At least I found out what the brand name stands for so I should have been warned.
