A long drive, flight and then drive out to Akaroa this accommodation was perfectly located. One street back from the waters edge, but beautiful view over the hills with a glimpse of water. Room was fully equipped with wonderful furnishings and very comfortable bed. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Great place to stay.
One of the standout features of this motel is the genuine helpfulness and friendliness of the personnel. Felicity went out of her way to help us, which we appreciated very much.
The location within Akaroa is great (very close to amenities, but not on the main road), and the units are spacious, immaculate, and restful. Our experience is with the upper units, and the views and afternoon sun make spending time in those rooms a pleasure. (Possibly the same could be said from the ground-floor units, but we don't know those.) We had great sleeps. We've stayed at the Criterion several times, and its high standard has been consistent.
A very welcoming place to stay. Excellent and comfortable accommodation and less than 100m from Dalys Wharf and the very popular Harbar Beachbar and restaurant. Town centre is only a few minutes walk away.

The staff are absolutely amazing - above and beyond, from check in, to local hot spots. The rooms decor is stunning and the location has an impeccable view of the harbour. Absolutely recommend - think we may even stay another night!
