The Lava Loop tour was the perfect way to see the stunning scenery in Akaroa. Greville was an awesome guide, and the bikes were fantastic. Can't recommed this highly enough. We will definitely be back to do the longer tour when we're next in Akaroa.

We are a bunch of mountain biking enthusiasts from Thailand ages 55-70. Originally we booked a Kayak tour about 10 months earlier (before the company added eMTB). By luck, just the day before, the owners (Allie and Greville) contacted us saying that the wind forecast makes kayaking too dangerous. Having seen that they now offer eMTB tour, we asked ti switch to that.
It was the best decision as the Scott eMTBs that they have are very new and very high quality. The views from the top on this tour was spectacular. The best part of the tour is the guide, Greville, who not only look after us but also told us all the local information about various sites along the route.
The trails is not difficult. Besides the relatively steep climb (which the eMTBs handled with ease), the routes are on light-traffic paved roads and gravel roads. It would have been better if we can ride on some off trails single tracks. NEXT TRIP will have to request that.

Went on a safari on our mountain electric bikes. The Lava loop was exciting and scenic and our guide was knowledgeable of the bays and mountain ranges and history of this area.
