One night in Fremantle!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 12, 2024
My wife and I had a one night stay for an event in Fremantle. It was a nice place to stay and very convenient. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very tidy and well presented. Was also nice to have complimentary water and chocolates in the room.

Very disappointed.
Pool view room - basic! Bed is ‘just’ bigger than a double. Paid almost $900 for two nights. Mold in bathroom. Walked in to wrong room configuration. Sad, Sad balcony. Aircon was horrible, had to request a fan. No extra channels on the TV, you have to stream your phone. Also the step in bath is very very slippery and quite dangerous. TV stopped working, I had to follow up with maintenance and reception to get updates. Could not be fixed. They did offer to change rooms on our last night at 5:30pm, we had dinner reservations at 6:00pm so this was not possible. So no TV/background noise for us in a $450 a night room. We received a FOC breakfast for compensation as we booked through a third party and was told that it was going to be too hard and could take well over 3 months to get a nights refund. - However don’t waste your money on a buffet breakfast there. No variety. Very sad buffet.
Overall - it was a complete disappointment and well over priced for out dated rooms and very poor service.

Room tip: Try and find another accommodation for better price and better service. The location is the only thing that is good about the stay.

Dear P5883ZZkb,

We are so sorry to hear about the multiple issues you've encountered that led to an underwhelming experience during your stay with us. Although easy to rectify, we do agree that these issues should not have existed in the first place so your valuable feedback is greatly appreciated. This is definitely not our usual standard so we will be sure to pass on the feedback to the team at large.

We hope to welcome you back should you choose to stay with us again and we would be keen to ensure we turn this experience around for a future stay.

Sincerely,

Esplanade Front Office Team

The hotel is an interesting building, very well located opposite a pleasant park near the water and close to the centre of town. The hotel is a little dated, with a huge and impersonal lobby atrium and ridiculously long passages to many of the rooms. Our room was adequate, very clean, comfortable and a good size.

The hotel lobby and rooms are a bit outdated. Every drink that we ordered from the bar seemed to be out of stock which was frustrating. The staff were not very enthusiastic except for the concierge who were great and friendly. The air con in the room wasn't cold enough. We had it on minimum temperature and it wasn't enough for an average temperature night. The bathroom is outdated, so is the artwork in the rooms. The TV is way too far away from the bed so we struggled to even watch a movie without squinting our eyes. Positively, the room was spacious and the spa bath which was included in our room was great. However, they didn't provide any complimentary water for the room so we had to pay $5 per bottle of water from the mini bar. How can a hotel NOT provide ANY complimentary water??? The pool bar was closed on a Friday which wasn't ideal for us either. However, the location of the hotel is great. It is close to pretty much everything including the markets, some good restaurants and bars. The parking down the road was easy to use and the hotel gave us a discount code and made it easy for us to set up. It did cost $30 a night however which was our cheapest option around that area.
It wasn't the worst hotel stay of my life but I don't think I would stay there again. Too much is outdated and the service was below par.

Room tip: Park at the drivo parking garage but make sure to get a discount code at reception first

Great location but a bit overpriced. We stayed there for 2 nights and cleaning was offered at 2pm when we wanted to have a rest from our morning activities. Rooms are a bit basic, facilities are even more basic. Pool is adequate but nothing to write home about and I could not find the gym, doesit exist?

We ordered an entree and meals, everything came out at once. This really impacts your ability to enjoy your dining experience as you are trying to consume both before they go cold!

I know I ruin a good steak by asking for well done. I get that. Mine was medium rare. At $48 for a steak with 3 pieces of broccolini and some chips I do appreciate it being cooked as I requested.

Rooms were excellent though and the position is great for accessing the touristy things.

Room tip: Order your meals separately, order your entree,, wait your 20 mins and then order your main!

Dear BoldonHill,

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the rooms and location, but we’re sorry your dining experience didn’t meet expectations. Your concern about the timing of the dishes and the steak not being cooked as requested is noted, and we’ll address this with our kitchen team to ensure better service in the future.

We hope to welcome you back to our hotel soon.
