Eccentric and Delightful Experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 9, 2024
I don't often write reviews but I do when something is exceptionaly good or bad. In this case I amd pleased it's the former.

This is a delightfully eccentric hotel right in the centre of Fremantle. Each room is a converted cottage that was once a residence for the prison officers at the Fremantle Prison. Accommodation consists of an anteroom with a table and chars and a side cabinet containing a fridge, microwave, tea and coffee maker and on tap still and fizzy water. The fridge ws stocked with drinks and a few snacks all included in the price. Further inside there is a spacious shower room and a bedroom with a King bed. The cottages have been modernised so that there are plenty of electrical points and a robust heating system which turned out to be essential as the weather was dreadful the first day.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the only criticism I have is that the breakfast consists of a specialty coffee and a pastry and more options would be appreciated.

This isn't a suitable place for a long stay but it is perfect for a weekend or short stay and is a fun experience. It's close to the prison and all the central attractions. We had disembarked at Fremantle after a Princess Cruise and this was a lovely end to our holiday.

This is a central minimalist hotel very cleverly designed and functional. It is in a great location.
The bed is comfortable, the shower room large and clean, and there are a number of complimentary items which is a nice touch. Storage is also minimalist, designed probably for a one or two night stay.
The welcome was friendly the reception staff incredibly helpful.
We used the hotels secure parking, which was in a garage 3 mins away, but otherwise the parking seems a bit hit and miss.
We were in an upstairs room, which overlooked the parking and there were noisy periods.
My only gripe was breakfast. It is served in the tiny Gimlit bar, and was crowded when we arrived. We had to sit outside and there was a wait as it was very busy.
I would have preferred to choose my pastry and drink the night before and have the option of it being delivered to the room.
However the pastry was good, no complaints there.

Room tip: Use the secure parking option, not too much room storage

This boutique hotel has been beautifully restored and was extremely comfortable for my family of 4. Big rooms and large beds, excellent location with cafes, bars and shops all around, and the customer service was high. I would recommend this for couples and families alike and if back in Fremantle, will certainly stay again.

Amazing stay overnight, we really enjoyed staying in the Terrace Room. It was super quiet even though we were on the corner on the main street. The King size bed was comfy which went with the room feeling itself - comfy and cozy. The block out blinds truely are blockout as well. Loved the location being in the centre of everything and parking was straight across the road. Loved that they have sparkling and still water on tap too. Staff were all very nice and friendly....looking for next time I can book. It was a very happy surprise all over, thank you :)

We really enjoyed a winter break in a delightful room. Randomly we were in the room for people with a disability which was a bonus. The bed was super comfortable and the shower and toilet areas were spacious. A little kitchen area and utensils for a cheese and wine happy hour.
Right next door to the Fremantle Markets, Fabulous Emily Tayler restaurant and The Gimlet cafe. Dinner at Sailing For Oranges was delicious. Secure parking over the road. Perfect getaway!

Room tip: Make sure you use the special parking offer.
