Great For the Hard of Hearing, Not So Much for Everyone Else

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 18, 2023
This is a nice old style hotel, well renovated and retrofitted with an elevator. It has a great bar on the roof with views all around the area, which is near the mouth of the river. It has a bar downstairs that has a good range of beers, including Kilkenny Ale, one of my favourites. Unfortunately, it also has (really lour) live music on weekends. I was on the second floor and there was no way I could sleep until it stopped at midnight. The floor was vibrating and the bass came through the bed. On the plus side, it's in a great area, with lots of excellent cafes, restaurants, and shopping.
Date of stay: November 2023
Room Tip: Don't stay there on weekends if you want to sleep before midnight.

We stayed on a Saturday night. For $315 a night, we found the room to be very basic and not like the ones in the photos so were a little disappointed. We were also between the music of the roof top bar and music of the live band on the bottom floor so didn’t get to sleep until they stopped playing… that should probably be mentioned before booking. Finding the packet of supplied ear buds in the bathroom does not suffice when you are paying $315 a night.

Incredibly beautiful room (1 of only 12) above a pub in the heart of Fremantle. It was a 30 meter walk to my office so location was superb. Had a few issues with a delayed flight but Mitch (one of the bar staff) was on hand to do the check-in and even escorted me to the room as it takes a bit of knowledge to navigate the halls. Great service. The room was a huge corner King suite, superbly appointed with a king sized bed, great pillows, A/C, desk, seating area, TV , beautiful lighting and a large bathroom. Amenities were great including the handmade soap and complimentary bottled water. The drip filter coffee was a godsend- though i would have liked an iron and ironing board in the room as i wasn't around during reception hours to get one sent up. There was no noise from the bar at all. The halls are lined with historical photos and artwork for sale by local artists. Would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling on business or wanting a boutique hotel experience with an awesome rooftop terrace (which i will try next visit).

Room tip: Check in closes around 11.30 so if you're flights delayed have a back up plan or contact the hotel directly.

Take care with this one. We liked the look of the menu and decided to visit mid-week. We went on to the booking app and dutifully booked a table. However, when we arrived, the restaurant doesn’t open on a Wednesday. The website did not indicate that it only opens some days.

Room tip: Don’t rely on the booking app as we booked for a day when it wasn’t open???

A renovated heritage hotel, great helpful staff, attratively decorated, good clean airy rooms. Traditional pub/bar on ground floor with live band, restaurant and a bar on ist floor with balcony access and a rooftop bar and seating on the 4th floor. The rooftop bar has great seating and good views of the city. The the ground floor bar could get quite noisy but we stayed on the third floor and hardly heard anything on a Friday night. Good seperation between the rooms and the rest of the hotel. The menu wasn't very exciting but you could guarantee a decent meal. A great place in the middle of the CBD with lots of restarants and bars within a few hunderd metres. Highly recommended.

Very stylish and centrally located hotel. We spent 2 nights there and had a room in the 2nd floor with a balcony. The rooftop bar is outstanding, watching the sunset or relaxing with a good view over the city. All is in walking distance and very well maintained..
