Take care with this one. We liked the look of the menu and decided to visit mid-week. We went on to the booking app and dutifully booked a table. However, when we arrived, the restaurant doesn’t open on a Wednesday. The website did not indicate that it only opens some days.
A renovated heritage hotel, great helpful staff, attratively decorated, good clean airy rooms. Traditional pub/bar on ground floor with live band, restaurant and a bar on ist floor with balcony access and a rooftop bar and seating on the 4th floor. The rooftop bar has great seating and good views of the city. The the ground floor bar could get quite noisy but we stayed on the third floor and hardly heard anything on a Friday night. Good seperation between the rooms and the rest of the hotel. The menu wasn't very exciting but you could guarantee a decent meal. A great place in the middle of the CBD with lots of restarants and bars within a few hunderd metres. Highly recommended.
Very stylish and centrally located hotel. We spent 2 nights there and had a room in the 2nd floor with a balcony. The rooftop bar is outstanding, watching the sunset or relaxing with a good view over the city. All is in walking distance and very well maintained..
I couldn't find reception, so I went to the bar, I was warmly welcomed and checked in, in a small reception office and shown to my room.
The room was beautifully decorated and well equipped, although, it would have been nice to have a comfortable chair to sit on. My room had a large balcony looking towards the Town Hall.
The hotel has been beautifully restored and has a classic pub with rooms feel. It is situated centrally in Fremantle and it is a great base to explore the historic sites. The National has a great rooftop bar, with stunning views, I dined there and also in the first-floor restaurant and I enjoyed both meals. The staff are friendly and professional.
I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend The National.
Called in for a quiet lunchtime drink at the roof bar on a Friday lunchtime.
Stunning views and friendly staff at the bar who discussed the cocktail choices for my wife and samples of the draught beer for me. Placed the order, paid by card, took the beer and was told the gin cocktail would be brought to the table.
So we found a comfy seat, sat and waited. And waited. And waited etc etc.
There was no queue at the bar so after 10 minutes I went and asked where my wife’s drink was. The bar crew had changed and no note left. The drink was never going to come. The new girl on shift made the drink and served it quickly.
When I asked to see a manager to give feedback, I was told he was to busy in a meeting but we could have refund or a free drink.
End of. Just wondering how they cope when it’s busy.
