We just had a super visit at the Hotel Justus (our first trip to Riga). The location is fantastic as it is part of the Dom grounds/complex...an easy walk to everywhere.

The decor is consistent with the Dom and the historic city center. Lots of art, architecture, furniture that looked vintage and paint/fixtures decorated to match. Our room overlooked the cobbled street so it did draw in some of the noise from the outdoor bars/restaurants down the street, but for us it added to the ambiance.

The room while looking vintage had modern amenities and comfy linens (maybe 1 more pillow!) and a A/C that worked well. Breakfast was nice and extensive with prepared hot dishes and lots of sliced meats/cheeses.

Staff were very professional and accommodating. Providing good suggestions for dinner and touring and helpful to store luggage, call taxi(s), etc. 20 mins from the airport and our booked taxi from the hotel was €16.

A very, very pleasant alternative to a large chain hotel. Loved it.

Centrally located in the old town, this quirky hotel is nicely decorated, our room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast had a great choice of meat, fish, cheese, breads, cereals etc. Easy to get to sights, restaurants and the airport (15 mins away). Taxi to airport was 15 euro or bus from airport was 2 euro.

A wonderful hotel in an excellent location right in the centre of the Old Town. The whole City can be explored on foot. The hotel staff are more than friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and breakfast provided the perfect start to the day. Highly recommended.

I have booked 2 nights at Justus hotel , which is right in the centre of Old Town within walking distance of famous landmarks.

To get to this hotel take the bus No 22, cost only 2 Euros single from the airport Lidosta Riga to stop 11 Novembra Krastmala. The stop is when the bus crosses the bridge. You can see on the board showing which stop is the next one so you cannot miss it. On the way back to the airport, you can take the bus 22 from the same location but opposite way. You can pay the driver 2 Euros, very cheap and convenient and the bus will stop outside the departure area.

The hotel is old fashion but nice and clean. The staff are helpful although the lady at the reception when we arrived wasn’t welcoming. But the other lady when we departed , she was friendly and nice.

I have booked a room that can occupy 3 adults but one bed was so small it’s more for a child. I didn’t sleep properly, plus the noise where we were, Room 215 you could hear loud music from the outside.

No tea/coffee facility in the room, but it didn’t bother us as there are lots of restaurants/coffee shops nearby.

The breakfast was nice, lots of selection cold and hot. We enjoyed it.

I will still recommend the hotel despite of issues with the bed and the noise.

If you want to explore other areas such as Sigulda , you can do it in a day’ s visit - take a train from Riga station - Valga Line, it takes approx 1 hr and 15 mins , cost 3.80 Euros return. You need to check the timetable. When you arrived in Sigulda make sure you go to the information centre and ask for a map , head to Air Cableway over Gauja River Valley. Visit the Gutman’s Cave.

Another place to visit is Jurmala, if you want to visit the beach, take a train from Riga station - Sloka or Tukums direction. It’s only about 30 mins journey and cost only 2.73 Euros return. Get off at Majori station.

Hotel Justus is a lovely hotel in an excellent position for exploring the old town of Riga. The room though small was more than adequate and the bathroom clean with a good shower. The breakfast choice was great and if you ask, the staff will get you fried eggs etc which are not on the menu. The staff where lovely and spoke good English. There are excellent restaurants one being B Bar which is right near the hotel which we can highly recommend. There is a restaurant called 1221 which is nice but expensive for what you get, but be careful if you order a steak they do not make the cost clear, the cost of a steak can set you back 52 euros and that's all you get for that price everything else is extra!!!!! There is a lovely quaint café called Parunasim virtually opposite the Three Brothers which we can also highly recommend. You can generally tell the difference in the people you meet who's Latvian and who's Russian. The Latvian people are generally very friendly and helpful !!
