Orthodox churches are often well worth a visit for the presence of spitituality and devotion. This is a fine example. Richly decorated even if the congretation had to do with malachite green paint not the costly mineral.

Outside looks very simple. But don't be fooled and walk pass it. Inside the church is simply stunning. All the detail works, sculpture and the atmosphere are second to none, in my view. No photo allowed, otherwise I would have shot tons of them.

This Baroque building in the shape of a Latin Cross was constructed in 1638 and later rebuilt in the 18th century after a fire in the building. The religious interior decor of all Russian Orthodox churches are beautiful and this church was no exception.Next to the Church building is the only active Orthodox convent and Monastery in Lithuania.

This building is a feast for the senses. But more than that, it feels to be a calm and serene haven. The church building is surrounded by a garden and other smaller buildings and seems to be a hub for current believers. It was a bit of a shock when I took a closer view of the reliquary and discovered three pairs of feet protruding from under the richly embroidered coverlet.

06/08 July, 2017.
The Holy Spirit Orthodox Church at its main entrance, prohibits photography.
The interior is characterised by the rich green colour prevading
throughout most of the structure. I visited the place on two
days, 06 July and 08 July, the first being the national holiday
on account of the Crowning of Mindaugas. There is a beautiful
painting on the outside. The exterior is
currently being renovated. On the second day, I took a round of
the small but impressive church complex. This place is very close
to the Gates of Dawn, and is definitely worth a visit!
