My wife & I visited Budapeast for 3 nights, over the Easter period of 2018. We originally didn't intend to call into St. Stephens, as we have seen an awful lot of bascilica's on our travels and are a bit tired of them in general. However, we inadvertingly stumbled across it and thought we might as well take a quick look. The bascilica seems to be heavily influenced by St John's Bascilica in Rome (or perhaps vice versa). However, that is no bad thing as it is very tastefully done. In fact, we though it was a beautiful building, which is a must if visiting Budapest. we were glad we visited it and recommend it highly...

I love visiting old churches. This church is not the oldest (slightly over a century old) But it is ornate and a pleasure to visit.

Free of entry while beautiful decor are to be seen inside, as well as a very interesting reliquary of the first king. Within 10 minutes you see the inside of it.

Definitely worth a visit whilst in Budapest. Beautiful basilica with ornate designs. 200 florints is the recommended donation to go inside with a cost of 600 florints for going to the top and walking around the outside of the dome - this is worth it. You can take the 300 + steps or take the lift. Views are amazing.

One of the most amazing things that I've seen! It's free to go in, but they do have a donations box. Pictures allowed, but very important, please be quite and respectful.
