Location wise, you really cannot beat this hotel while staying in Budapest! Situated in the heart of the castle district, neighbored by the grand Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion, it sits high up on the banks of the River Danube, opposite the Parliament Building. How can you get better than that?!
The decor of the hotel itself is spectacular. It possesses a very olde-worlde charm throughout. The views from various points of the hotel are amazing, and compromise different landmarks of the city from a variety of angles. The public areas of the hotel are absolutely pristine! Pure luxury.
Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the Parliament Building, which was fab!!
Staff are charming and genuine, and provide a truly professional, smart service at all times.
Breakfast is great, attributable to the fact that there is such a wide range of food on offer. From your traditional hot buffet options inc bacon and eggs, to an array of pastries and jams, cold meats and cheese, fruit... You'll be spoiled for choice!
The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars was because of a few minor issues, such as no water as a welcome in the room (I have stayed at many 5* hotels, and this is usually a given), the room we were given was very dusty, which made me wonder when it had last had a thorough clean, and lastly, there was slightly dangerous scaffolding outside of the hotel entrance, due to the current refurbishment work. It was a particularity windy night, and the wire fencing around the work had fallen over outside of reception, which my fiance tripped over and bruised his shin. Not really the hotel's fault as such as they can't control the adverse weather conditions, but it was obviously flimsy fencing.
That being said - despite the fact that the hotel is under refurbishment, we didn't hear any noise at all during our whole stay! The disturbance is very minimal and certainly should't put anybody off visiting!
Look no further for location!
