Location wise, you really cannot beat this hotel while staying in Budapest! Situated in the heart of the castle district, neighbored by the grand Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion, it sits high up on the banks of the River Danube, opposite the Parliament Building. How can you get better than that?!
The decor of the hotel itself is spectacular. It possesses a very olde-worlde charm throughout. The views from various points of the hotel are amazing, and compromise different landmarks of the city from a variety of angles. The public areas of the hotel are absolutely pristine! Pure luxury.
Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the Parliament Building, which was fab!!
Staff are charming and genuine, and provide a truly professional, smart service at all times.
Breakfast is great, attributable to the fact that there is such a wide range of food on offer. From your traditional hot buffet options inc bacon and eggs, to an array of pastries and jams, cold meats and cheese, fruit... You'll be spoiled for choice!
The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars was because of a few minor issues, such as no water as a welcome in the room (I have stayed at many 5* hotels, and this is usually a given), the room we were given was very dusty, which made me wonder when it had last had a thorough clean, and lastly, there was slightly dangerous scaffolding outside of the hotel entrance, due to the current refurbishment work. It was a particularity windy night, and the wire fencing around the work had fallen over outside of reception, which my fiance tripped over and bruised his shin. Not really the hotel's fault as such as they can't control the adverse weather conditions, but it was obviously flimsy fencing.
That being said - despite the fact that the hotel is under refurbishment, we didn't hear any noise at all during our whole stay! The disturbance is very minimal and certainly should't put anybody off visiting!
Look no further for location!

Dear xxxC29xxx,

It makes us proud of our service when we receive such a beautiful comment. Comparing to other hotels in the city being located in the heart of Buda Castle district neighbored by striking historic attractions might be a huge advantage and recently going through a full renovation we can provide very nice public areas and guest rooms with a modern feel. We are very happy that you enjoyed it.

We are very sorry to hear about the incident outside of the building. Please get in touch with us directly and we will investigate on the issue mentioned.

We all hope that we can welcome you to Hilton Budapest in the near future.

Best regards,

Zoltan Arvai

Well first of all the welcome from the staff was really nice! We were taken up to the executive lounge and then taken to our room which I have to say was completely amazing! We had one of the king suites, comfortable bed and beautiful room! I think the only down side is if your wanting a quiet breakfast then the main breakfast room was packed and people just seem to turn into crazy people and swam everywhere to grab food, we then decided to go back up to the lounge which was 10 times better and a lot more relaxed! The hotel is in the perfect place for views and seeing the sites, and after a long day walking around and coming back to the hotel you really appreciate the hotel! Thank you all so much for looking after us as it was a special weekend and will return for a second visit!

Overall, a fantastic hotel. The location is awesome. If you can splurge for a river view hotel room do it. The city lights up at night and the height of the hotel would give some amazing views. The staff was amazing and did everything they could to make our stay as good as it could be. The price is high, but it's not like any other Hilton I have ever stayed at...as a Diamond member, I have stayed in A LOT of Hiltons. I believe this is the only other Hilton that I have given 5 stars to!

Pros: Cons:
- Location - Price
- Staff - Remodeling in-progress
- Historic & modern - Windows are above 6 feet from ground
- Quiet (very) - Small lounge
- Exec Lounge - Alcohol hours in lounge.
- Plethora of outlet & styles - No in-room coffee maker
- Modern Appliances

Location:
- Nestled in the remains of impressive historical buildings.
-- Historical lounge is truly AWESOME!
- At the top of a large hill, really works the calves at the end of the day getting back.
- Few restaurants/bars in the immediate area

Staff:
- Fluent in English
- Incredibly helpful and attentive.
- Never met an employee that seemed unhappy.

The hotel:
- Beautifully "restored" historical site, mixed with modern amenities.
- Renovations in progress, but the hotel has done a remarkable job "hiding" work sites. You almost wouldn't notice if they didn't tell you about it in advance.
- Executive lounge:
-- Alcohol only served 6-8 PM
-- Soda cabinets locked in the morning
-- Fancy coffee machine available during all open hours (0600-2200)
-- Quite, but lacks enough seating to fit all patrons during 1800-2000 service.
- In room dining was quick and delicious
- Room included multiple outlets that matched those used in the US, England, and Germany.

Room Tip: Rm 431: Huge Loft style corner suite split down the middle. King & two twin bed.. Small kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine. 1.5 baths!

We had a fantastic break at Hilton Budapest. We stayed Monday to Friday and it's the best European city break we've had in ages. Budapest is a great city with loads to see and do. The hotel was perfect. Great location on the castle side, so lovely at the end of the day when lots of visitors go back to the Pest side, you fee like you have the old city to yourself. We really enjoyed our room, which was a Danube River view. It was spotless, with a huge bed, lovely bathroom and the view was incredible. The hotel staff were incredibly professional, service excellent and the concierge very helpful, thank you. Buffet breakfast was great and lovely view from the dining room onto Matthias Church. Dinner in the restaurant also very nice, with excellent wine list. All in all couldn't have been better! We'll definitely be back

Room Tip: River view room - stunning
