The old town is well kept and bustling. There are a few shops, but it is mainly bars and restaurants which have been putting out their outdoor seating over the last few days. It's a nice place to relax and take in this beautiful city.

Even though it was a bit windy and rainy at the time of our visit, we really enjoyed exploring the old town of Wroclaw. This is such a beautiful city! Prepare with comfy shoes as you can easily walk 10-12 kms on a single day! (:

The Germans called this city Breslau. In WWII, it did not surrender for 4 days after Berlin fell. The Nazi commander had ordered the population, which was largely ethnically German, to evacuate in dead of winter, and many of them froze to death en route. Wrozclow has more modern buildings than most Polish cities cuz much of the war's rubble was hauled off to rebuild Warsaw. Sidewalks in Old Town have brass plates highlighting historical events, reaching way back almost 1100 years.

Just wander round and look up - some of the buildings have glorious mouldings and gilt work. Visit salt square to look at the pretty flowers on sale - just around the corner from the Rynek
