It was closed for Easter and we just missed an opportunity to go into the cathedral between mass so it was just a walk around the grounds. Lovely, go and see it even if it is just to enjoy the view.

Wawel Cathedral is located within Wawel Castle in Kraków. Entry requires a ticket from the small office just across the courtyard and includes an audio guide. Expect a cursory security check at the door. Words fail to describe the cathedral’s beauty. The cathedral is in the Gothic style but also heavily influenced by the Renaissance masters. Follow the audio tour through the central nave, up to the bell tower and into the numerous side chapels. Truly appreciating Wawel will take time as there is so much to see. Sadly, photos are not allowed. The cathedral celebrates Mass several times each day which is free and open to all.

The cathedral was breathtaking. The decoration inside and the style of the cathedral with individual altars was very peaceful and gave time to reflect and pray . No photos allowed but you can buy a book in the gift shop which shows a lot of the wonderful sights inside . Well worth a visit when you go the castle .

The burial site of many Polish Kings and Queens of yesteryear. Very pretty and beautifully ornate. Reminded me a bit if St Vitus in Prague.

Nestled at the castle and sitting on a large square. A beautiful landmark that tourists will visit when in Krakow.

I had decided prior to visiting that I only wanted to see the cathedral, the crypts and the cathedral museum. The ticket with English audio I think was under 20zl. When receiving your audio you have to give the man some I.d. to keep or a certain amount of zl. The guards in the cathedral are very helpful and will point you in the right direction. I would defiently rexommend seeing the cathedral, as well as climbing the 100 steep stairs to the bell tower. I have a fear of heights and did feel a bit uneasy up there but it was worth it to see the view. Unfortunately the museum was closed for matinence, but this did not spoil the visit.
