“interesting because of links to recent history”

St. Bridget's Church (Kosciol sw. Brygidy)
Ranked #34 of 196 things to do in Gdansk
Certificate of Excellence

This is interesting because of its links to more recent history, specifically the Solidarnosc movement. There is an interesting exhibition about this. Also there is a relic associated with St Bridget, whose remains passed through here on her way from her death in Rome to her burial in Sweden.

The amber altar piece is simple amazing. The church is fairly simple aside from that but is well worth a look when you're wandering around the city on foot!

St Bridgets Church ( Koscoil Sw Brygidy ) is another wonderful church in the Old Town.
The church looks amazing ,it was completely destroyed during WW2 and rebuilt post war ,in fact it was eventually reconstructed in 1973 from original plans from 1394 _ 1420 .
The amber alter is awesome in here and looks amazing .
I love the facade of this building,it's dark brick frontage is very eye catching indeed and the tower is very photographic.
This church is easy to locate on Ul.Profesorska,it's very close to St Catherine's Church.
Well worth checking out.

Probably worth a visit because of its age and central position in the Old Town. But major building works when we went made it hard to appreciate.

Its a must if you are staying in Gdansk, I would do your research on the internet if you decide not to have a guided tour. Well worth a visit just to see the Amber Alter which is still being built
